2000 ML430

i just bought this car and i need some answers.
1) whats the proper coolant temperature? is mine normal ?

2) my car on 250k miles.
what oil and oil filter you guys suggested ?
3)car always blow hot air so ex-owner bypass heater core.
whats the reason car always blow hot air ?

Coolant temp=normal
AC blowing hot air= faulty AC system,put gauges on the car to determine fault

I had a 1999 ML430 and it generally ran a bit above the 80 tick mark, sometimes higher, about where yours is showing. Ran like a champ so I'd agree you are good.

(brown spot under the coolant metal hose clamp, right side of the cooland tank )

1. if you have green coolant, it is the wrong one. Drain and flush and replace with Zerex G05 coolant gold colored.

2. post photo of how he bypassed the heater core.

3. Mobil 1 Synthetic 0W-40, and fleece filter.

no i have a blue coolant. but tonight im going to flush and filled up with distilled water and water wetter. without coolant. i live at california, so i guess i dont have a below 32F problems in here.

Mercedes no longer makes the brown/gold coolant the W163 originally came with...

I got to know this from the local dealer...they now only supply the new blue coolant..and since it is supposed to have better characteristics than the original brown/gold one...they said, it is perfectly okay to put in all older Benz's..
