Dreaded swirl flap issue!

Hi all, having some issues with my 2004 270cdi, it’s currently in limp home mode, won’t kick down or anything, I have purchased a good quality diagnostic machine which is showing a few things, have taken some pics of faults that are stored. Main one is p1189-8 M55 inlet port shut off motor check signal line of component M55 for discontinuity? What does that mean?? I have purchased a replacement swirl flap motor As I’ve been advised the motor is knackered but I’m not entirely convinced, although the original motor isn’t working as

I’ve checked. will add pics of the other codes too. It’s had a brand new MAF, egr works fine but have also had it off and cleaned. Any info wouldn’t be greatly appreciated 👍

There are too many codes set for any one problem. Erase all codes and restart eng.

Jay, do you need instructions to replace this part?

What part number did you purchase and where did you buy it?

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/discontinuity

im good with fitting the motor etc it’s more of what this code means and which one is putting the car into limp home mode. Does it mean the motor is knackered or something else?

Look at all the replacements for this part. You have no choice but to disassemble everything and have a look/see .

Update, all sorted, the swirl flap motor apparently blew the 10a fuse that is hidden in the ecu box, replaced motor and fuse, car now working normally and out of limp home mode. Thanks again for the replies Maj it’s much appreciated 👍

Jay, it would be nice to let everyone else know where this hidden fuse is. Take a photo if possible.
