ml 320
Putting A 430 Ecu In A Ml 320

i have i 1998 ml 320 and whant to put a 430 ECU in rather than the stock will this work the cid bore stroke are the same...430's got like 50 Hp and 50 lbs difference

You will have to change the Cat converters, you might have to change the trans., torque converter, rear struts, engine control unit, efan, trans. cooling lines and move the left motor mount one space. Autogunner.

Don't forget to add ML430 eight cylinder motor.

Theoretically it should work. The computer takes input from the engine and the driver to perform all it's controls. You will not get more power than necessary. I believe the tranny has a separate control unit (someone correct me if I'm wrong here) so I won't worry about the shift points changing. The only issue I see is if the computer is coded for a 430 via the VIn or some other method, then if there's no confirmation from the truck, the computer may shut down. I doubt they'll do this though. Try it. If it doesn't work, reswap.

yah you can match it all together ive dealt with the issue i but a new motor trans and converter in and had the match each one to the other then to the ecu


p.s i know i know just get a new ML but me and this ml have gone to hell and back twice and i love this one

if you love, then dont mess with it. if youre gonna mod it, and you love it so much, do it right... instead of pinching pennies on something you LOVE.

cause i whant the most power to at a sarting besides hen the motor blow's after 400k and the trans licks it and your hanger bearing bits rapping the drive line around the hanger rippin off the mounts ( not from poor matence ) im already into it more than you belive so yah im watchin how much goes into it

if you love it that much that you dont wanna buy a new one.. then just swap in a new 5.0L V8.. ratehr than these little things that dont really add any power
