In the article it states that the ML63 has that new big @ss V-8 that will take the place of the supercharged one thats in the E55 and such.
So that makes three different V-8 models to choose from.

Thats just wrong.

Yup, Kia Sorrento (I said the same thing in another post). By the way, I just got back from the Rover dealer and think I am going to order a LR3. Very nice and much better than the ML (IMHO). I love my ML but I think it is time to part ways.

Choice isn't bad. Just when it is so redundant (or closely related) in the same auto maker.

3 V8's? Please. And the R and G class as well? What are there going to be...something like 10 models of SUV to choose from? How can that be smart business and profitable for MB?

It's worked in Europe for euro makers. There are many engine choices available there that we never see. There is extra cost in federalizing these. For the consumer it lets them tailor each vehicle to their specific needs, wants and budget.

I realize that and wondered the same thing after spending time in Europe. But I can't help but wonder how the American public will respond when there isn't much differnce between 10 or so SUV's from the same automaker (too much overlap). The American consumer is more finiky as well there will be no more "class breakdown" between the models and owners. I think a V6, a V8, and an AMG is plenty and helps bring in the customers. Besides increasing choices isn't always a good thing.

But that is only my $.02 and I totally understand your side as well. We will just have to see what happens. The American auto consumer is a tough crowd.
