Seat cushion swap?

Seat cushion swap?
I asked this question on the "other" ML board and it didn't interest anyone. Silly me. Some help, please?
Before I do something foolish and tear into my front seats, I was wondering how hard it would be to swap the driver seat cushion with the passenger? My '02 320 has nearly 50k of rear end shine on the driver side and only about 10k on the passenger.
Is this an easy job, or will I regret tearing all the plastic bits apart, only to have them not go back together?

How much does a front seat cushion cost?
Mine's got some cracks on the driver side cushion and have been considering replacing it...I had a vague idea that it cost some 300+ dollars.

I now this is an old thread - but as our ML's get older, it is quite likely one seat cushion will get a lot worse than the other.
I ahve tried leatherique and it works kind of o.k. - but I would rather swap the seat cushions across.
Anyone done this job ?? Do you need to remove the seats to do it ???
