Garage Opener Plastic Knob for $47.88???

Garage Opener Plastic Knob

I just had the plastic knob on the garage door opener compartment of my '98 ML320 break and the plastic replacement knob at the dealership had a part number of 163-825-00-55 and was $47.88!!!

Could this be correct? Has anyone else replaced one of these little plastic parts and how much was the part?

$31.50 + shipping here http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...&siteid=213951, so you didn't really do that bad at the dealer.

The list price on that part is about €32, so $48 doesn't seem too far off. Unless you have some sort of discount agreement with your dealership, most dealerships will charge you a markup OVER list price. If you can get the parts from a parts supply place, the price will be lower.

The list price at Beshoff Motorcars in San Jose, which is directly owned by Mercedes as far as I know, is $42.00 according to their website. But when you call them they usally try to increase it. A common MB dealer ripoff.

Is this the black button you push to open the garage door with your own garage door opener underneath in the compartment?

I broke the same piece but my dealer told me the entire overhead console needed to be replaced for over $200 in order to fix. I never bothered to fix but thanks to your post I now will go ahead and order part. Thanks to all for the info.

When I first went in, I was told the same thing, but that the part was $500+, then I pushed and eventually looked around his monitor and pointed out another part which he looked up and decided might be it. He said he would get it and when it arrived I could look to see if that was it...it was...
