Nav or Entertainment pack.

I will buy pretty soon. Is ent, package really makes that much difference?
I personally rather get the navigation but the nav is primitive on mercedes compared to japanese cars. local dealer have two cars with my package configurations one with one, the other with ent. pack?
what do you guys think?

I bought them both. The Nav is maybe by some standards dated but it works just fine and gets me to where I need to go and is accurate. The entertainment package gave me an excellent sound system, and the CD changer (in glove box) plus I believe that without it you do not get the aux plug in the glove box (which I most likely will never use). They are both really inexpensive in the overall scheme of things. I also suggest you get the lighting package. I also got the Premium package which contains some neat stuff including leather and the power rear hatch. Get everything you want with your initial order as its more expensive to add later and with many retrofits and aftermarket stuff you do not get all the features. Airmatic is also excellent.

The nav can be dealer installed. Why not have him put that in also. Or, why not order one thats just how you want it. I am certain you can negotiate the same price but it will take 6 to 8 weeks. Or, have him locate one for you at another dealer's and swap one of his for it. Thats done all the time.

Go with the Ent

I agree. I have both Nav and Ent. Given a choice between the two I would take the Ent system.

6 MP3 CDs (that's 594 songs - 99 per CD) - you may never need to change a CD again.

Awesome sound quality. The best I've heard in, or out, of a car.

NAV system is ok, I don't know about the USA, but here in Australia it doesn't know about no right turn intersections (no left turn in your part of the world). This is probably an issue with the local data rather than the core system however.

Go ent.

Too many to list
I say go with the NAV...if you can't get both. Why? Because installing the nav unit after purchasing the car will cost tons of money. The drive itself is over $5K and most likely, the dealer won't do it. The entertainment package isn't all that. The cd changer isn't even in-dash and can only play 99 songs/cd. Plus, you can go aftermarket for superior sound compared to the stock H/K. The nav package will yield a higher resale value than the entertainment package.

Hi,

I have both, but if I should choose, I'd rather have the nicely integrated entertainment system than the navigation. The CD changer in, but not robbing space in, the glovebox is excellent - and come on, recorded in a decent quality, a CD will not hold much more than 99 tracks anyway. 594 tracks really is quite enough, I think.

The navigation system is good, but not perfect (at least here in Europe), and there are a lot of very good performers out now as stand-alone solutions, offering a number of features the built-in navigations systems don't (like GPS speed indication etc.).

The sound system is, I agree, VERY good - and a great improvement on the Bose in the W163, that IMHO wasn't bad either.

Also - but that is another question - the silver is easier to keep clean-looking than the black. Unless of course you have a very easy access to a car wash!

You agreed well - welcome among the W164 drivers

It's a very good-looking vehicle - if you keep it clean, so check out your neighborhood carwashes

The navigation system (the command one) is very expensive after my idea. It costs 2850 euros in France. We didn't take it for that reason.
