multicontour seats?

Hello again,
before ordering my ML 350 there are some unsolved questions I hope you can answer:
1. How are the (in Germany so called) multicontour seats? Some threads told abaout problems (the seats lose const. air ...).
2. How practicable are lighter leather seats? Does somebody see already dirt there?
Would it be better to order not the multicontour seats and black leather??

Thanks! - from cold northern Germany!

I would order the mulitcontour seats - they are very nice. I like them very much and order them in all MBZ cars in which they are available as an option.

The question on upholstery? I choose medium colors for the purpose that you mention, ease of keeping clean -- but many members have the lighter upholstery and interiors with no problems. I suppose the question is: how well will you keep your car clean, and how often will you clean your car? I do not believe that lighter-colored upholstery is any more problematic than darker colored upholstery if you are willing to make the effort to keep it clean, and if you are willing to obtain a good stain remover for that occcasional disaster....

Thanks! So the multicontour seats don't cause only problems. And the lighter upholstery looks great in a dark-blue ("tansanitblau" in Germany) ML! Some cleaning of the seats is no real problem.

I have the multicontour seats in my new ML500, the seats themselves are not a problem, they are actually very comfortable. But the control panel for the extra functions (lumbar, leg, air support, etc.) is in a very poor location, IMHO. Its stuck on the front of the seat, right under your leg and if you have short legs, then the control panel box will likely dig into your leg calf and become a PITA. Its bolted to the seat and doesn't move. Seems like minimal thought was put into the box location - it should have been put on the side of the seat with the other seat controls.

I agree with the multi contour seats, not about the location of the controls.
the lighter color does fade, stain, etc. more than the dark ones will that is a fact, especially on Benzes. Go look at any old S class w/ tan interior. Up to you. It basically comes down to how "aged" the car looks when it is 5-10 years old. For now, the lighter is nice (especially blue). In the long run, dark will look less dated.

Thanks again. The resale is not such a concern for me because I will drive the ML some years. If the seats don't look rotten after 4-6 years it should be o.k.
The strange location of the control panel I know. But during a test drive it didn't disturb me.

My advice is to buy the one that does it for you. If you care enough, anythng can be done, including restaining, etc. One word of advice, though. take a look at some benzes that are 4-6 years old with a similar interior and make sure that you ok with the "aged" look. Even the older black interiors aren't that great. The charcoal does have the best resale, but not by any real value.
I guess I'm saying to be realistic and understand that the lighter will age, BUT get it if it is the one that melts your heart. The lighter interirs can add some character that the charcoal just doesn't.
Tell us what you choose. And of course PICS PICS PICS!

Hello Drak - where? There is no PM to find?!
Ulli

@ Phonetics: The chromium grill is an option included in some packages.
(For instance in Germany: offroad-styling package)
