No ML 550 for 2007

My dealer just faxed me a copy of the MY07 M-Class Dealer Ordering Guide. It lists the upcoming ML320 CDI (available in 45 states) and is due out in Mid October and it also lists the ML63 AMG and it shows a planned release date of August/September. The specs for the ML 500 shows the same as today, 5.0L SOHC 24-Valve V8 with 302 hp and 339 lb-ft torque. No 5.5 engine. New standard equipment for the ML 500 includes Full MB Tex, cargo cover and rear side air bags and active head restraints.

There are also now 3 option packages ranging from $2800 to $8675.

P1 Package: Electric sunroof, rain sensing wipers, power lift gate, harmon/kardon Logic 7 system, Sirius satellite radio, hands free communication system, Teleaid & Homelink - $3500 ML350/ML320, $2800 ML500

P2 Package: Includes P1, plus DVD navigation, Auto-dimming mirror, power folding mirrors, rear-view camera, power steering column and memory seat function - $6500 ML350/ML320, $5800 ML500

P3 Package: Includes P1 & P2, plus Air suspension, Active damping shocks, parameter steering, 3-zone climate control, infared glass, rear seat controls, cargo management system, cargo net - $9000 ML350/ML320, $8675 ML500

There are four other Code packages (1) Exterior appearance (2) AMG Sport (3) Rear seat entertainment (4) Heating package

Then, there about 17 stand alone options.

The ML63 comes very loaded with all 3 option packages standard. Very few options are available for it. It even comes with 20" wheels. With all the standard goodies, I guess the rumored $80,000 base price is probably true.

No base prices are shown for any model.

Sounds good, but I just can't see the old 5L V8 being used for another year. Doesn't make sense compared to the rest of the Mercedes lineup. Unless....unless......the 2007 ML500 will be a short model year run until around this time next year when the 2008 model ML550 and ML450 come out with direct injection added to both V8s? Pure speculation on my part, but I can see something like that happening. Unless that order sheet will be updated after the New York Auto Show when Mercedes usually gives more information about the upcoming model year since NY is the last major show of the autoshow season. I just can't see an E550, SL550, S550, CLS55 and CLK55 all sitting on the same floor while the ML still uses the old V8.

Also I noticed the new ML320 will only be available in 45 states???? All the Bluetec technology for naught????

I do like the way they have structured the packages. No more having to add a half dozen option packages. Makes more sense arragned this way IMO.

Wouldn't shock me if they went with the ML460 versus a 550 since the GL is going to have the lesser of the engines. Doesn't make sense to have a larger vehicle with a smaller engine (or at least the designation of a smaller engine). Sorry, I'm not terribly familiar with the new engines.

Looking that post about the option packages for 2007 I see where he said that there are about 17 stand alone options? I would guess that those are just some of the options from the packages that are orderable seperately. There couldn't possibly be 17 more options available in addition to those packages.

I just can't see the ML500 staying the same for 2007. Unless Mercedes is going to do a spring 07 intro for the 2008 model with the new V8s employing direct injection.

I agree--I think the ML will get the 4.6 when the GL gets the 5.5.

I just ordered a 2006 ML 500. I'd rather have an 07. Any idea when you can start ordering the 2007. Do you know when delivery is expected on the 2007 ML500.

Thanks

You can order a 2007 ML500 now. The dealers received their order guides last week. They have pricing for all the options, but they do not have the base price for the vehicle. According to the copy of the guide I have, the ML500 has a planned release date of July/August 2006.

Interesting. Some of those are not included in the packages and some of them are. This way people can pretty much get an ML any way they want it.

I wish MB would clarify the engine situation with the ML. To have the ML500 continue production for one more year doesn't make sense.

Merc1 has the E550, SL550, CLK550 CLS550 etc. been confirmed?

When is the NY motor show? I really hope they announce an ML550 or ML450.

The NY show is next month, like the 14th or something like that. Yes the SL550 has been confirmed for the U.S. All the rest should be revealed at New York since it is the last major autoshow of the season.

SL550

Since the 2007 order guide lists only the ML500, I doubt that they will introduce a ML550 at the NY Auto Show. This is the guide the dealers use to place their initial orders of 2007 cars. Also, customers will order from this guide. It doesn't show the 2007 ML500 as showing up until July/August of this year. I would think the ML550 (if it ever exists) won't show up as a 2007 model.

That is really perplexing. I can't see Mercedes selling the ancient V8 in the ML500 for another year. Oh well I guess we'll know in a few weeks.
