Thumbs up US ML320CDI coming in October

Well, it looks as if the oil burner ML is really on the way to the US market. I was just informed that I managed to get a production slot for the second week in October.

The 2007s are going to have a lot of options available however they will be bundled into basically three "packages", with some additional options available seperately.

Package 1: Electronic sunroof, rain sensing wipers, power liftgate, Harmon/Kardon Logic 7 stereo, Sirius satellite, Bluetooth communications, TeleAid, Homelink

Package 2: Package 1 plus DVD Nav, power folding mirrors, auto dimming mirrors, rear view camera, power steering column adjustment, memory seats

Pakage 3: Packages 1 & 2 plus air suspension, auto dampening shocks, parameter steering, cargo management system, cargo net, 3 zone climate control

To give you an idea what is available, here's what I have ordered:

2007 ML320CDI
Full leather interior (Black)
Exterior: Desert Silver
P3 Package
Exterior appearance package
Distronic
Parktronic
Bi-Xenon headlights
Trailer hitch
Heated front seats
CD Changer
iPod integration

The only other major options available are the rear seat DVD (mounted in the headrests this year, Keyless Go (only available on the ML500 or ML63 AMG) and heated rear seats/steering wheel)

According to the dealership the Offroad Package (low range transfer case, etc.) will not be offered in the US for MY2007 on any of the ML models.

There are more new Benzes this year than nearly any other previous year. Dealerships must be under somer real pressure keeping everyone informed on the latest and greatest. The new CL is due in November right about the time all these diesels should start arriving: R320, E320, ML320 and then sometime later a GL320 and gasp(!) a S320.

I am ordering from my local dealer and got an Aug 31 build slot. Hope it works out. Just wondering, but are folks getting any discounts on the CDI?

2007 ML320 CDI
Wow, I have a CDI on order also (no special bargain price), but I wasn't going to let MB sell me over $20,000 in options which would put it in the range of a moderately equipped GL. I don't understand the need (or want) for an FM radio, Sirrius radio, cd player, 6 disk cd changer, and Ipod integration. For the same price, I would get rid of the 6 disk changer and the Ipod integration, buy a video Ipod and purchase 540 tunes for the Ipod and plug it into the aux plug.

So, if I want to order ML320 CDI with Navigation, Blue Tooth, Air suspention, sun roof and heated seats I have to get all the other options?

On a 2007 ML350/320, you would have to get PO3 ($9000) to get air suspension, a Bluetooth adapter (around $400 maybe, I'm not sure), and heated front seats ($700) with navigation and sunroof included in PO3, as are a lot of other options. In my case, 2007 options (with PO2) came out less expensive than a 2006 (probably an increase in the base price to make up for it) with a better selection of options. Rumor has it that these are the new standard feature: MB tex, roof rail, privacy glass, rear airbags, active head restraints, cargo cover, birds-eye wood trim, and a black and chrome grill (maybe like some of the European MLs).

Hi, I recently spoke to my dealership, and they said they have 2 of them coming late August. Thats even better news! I am going to put a deposit down on the Silver one when I get more information as to the interior color and options.

My options alone came out to around $24k. I did spring for the AMG package, though.

I hate to have to disappoint you however my dealership just checked with the factory and the first US spec ML diesels won't be leaving the factory until late in September with initial deliveries in mid/late October. This ties up with the October 1 changeover to the new low sulphur diesel fuel in the US as the current diesel fuel is not recommended at all for the new engine. It didn't seem likely that MB would release the ML diesel prior to the changeover date.

Even though the build date might be the end of August, they won't be at your dealership until mid-October at the earliest.

BTW, the base price for the US spec ML320CDI was just announced: $43,850.

Any idea what the 07 ML350 price is?

That way, we'll know what premium they've decided their diesel trucks are worth...

You are right, my dealer contacted me and told me that the production dates have been pushed down to september and the cars won't arrive till mid-late october. Oh am I so pissed. I hate that when they push the productions later and later and later.

I suspect they're doing this to make sure that the new clean diesel is in place nationwide in order to keep early owners from damaging their engines by getting some of the old diesel. The new diesel isn't law until Sept and it will take about a month for all the old stuff to be out of most systems. They need to be careful here.

2007 ML320 CDI
The CDI price seems more reasonable than the $85,500 price of the ML63. A 2006 ML350 is $2000 cheaper with similar options to my sept. 25 build date 2007 ML320 CDI. I, too, am curious how much the difference is attributed to a price change of the 2007s. I still haven't seen whether the ML320 CDI will be eligible like the 2007 E320 CDI for a diesel tax credit of around $1400.

The base for 07 Ml350 is $42400-$42600, I saw the list with all models for 07 and can't remember exactly; it is about $1000 less than ML320 CDI.

Do you mean something like European Delivery? And what would be the benefit of it? 7% off?...

At this time there are no tours of the factory. I've heard it will return in late 2006 [but now see its early 2007]. I'm not certain if factory deliveries are continuing either.

Check out http://www.mbusi.com/ for more info.

I did it in 2001/2002 and it is awesome and worth the effort to do it. Especially the off-road experience.
