Faulty rear boot lock

Rear boot lock shotcircuts. In the past three weeks the lock has been changed three times and it keeps getting shortcircuted. They have had the car for a whole week and the guy who was suppose to fix it went on holiday! Both SAM-modules are defect and and will be replaced next week. Meanwhile I have to drive arround with ugly sticky tape bands on the rear boot and no cover on the inside. Car feels so noisy without the rearboot interior cover. I'm so frustated about this Anyone with similar experience?

Btw when I picked up the car last night from the workshop, there was a clear a 1.5" long scratch on the rear bumper, just below the boot. I told the mechanic about it and he replied that it must have been there before they got the car. He was in fact lying straight into my face, I had washed the car the day I left the car at the workshop and it was scratch-less. I'm even more frustrated about this!

Seems bad! I understand your feelings! Just a new car and you have to deal with all this! Incredible. At least here in Greece, with all the problems we have, there is more responsability when the car, especially a MB, is in the service, but however I never give my car, at any service, without first making a check-tour around the car with the responsible of the service so they can never say to me what they said to you about something that thay damaged!
It is just experience, from now on you know this too. Never trust noone!
What exactly happened with your lock? Is it the auto-close system of the rear door? What is it? I am expecting my new car in end of year and i hope i have no problems like this but one never knows what comes to him!

Have a fast and proper reparation and I wish you never again problems with you car MAN!

Thanks Jasas

Lock does not work, it pops open on the road. Its an electrical fault which they have spent more than 3 weeks on to fix, without results.

Overall Im satisfied with the car, its just when service levels don't meet your expectations. I feel that MB service-level is getting worse eg. they don't give you a loaner for free anymore. Their "mobilio life" service is only avaliable if you have a serious breakdown.

Last week the car was suppose to be ready and I'm almost certain that they just left it there the whole week without doing anything. Today I was suppose to get a call from the workshop, but I didn't. Had to call them twice myself and same answer everytime: "We'll call you back", which they never do. I have no clue about when the car will be fixed and my holiday plans have once again gone down the drain.

Really I feel they're behaving in such an unprofessional and idiotic manner and frankly I don't care how busy they are at the workshop, this is really bad customer service

I remember once, when i had my VW Touareg, that the owner of the VW dealership, my friend, had a problem i think similar to yours, only that in his case he was having problems with the rear window opening while he was driving, as in the VW Touaregs there is an indipendent rear window that can be opened with a normal electrical lock-unlock just like your MB rear door. And he was worried too as it was something dangerous and same time very disturbing. I remember that the reason was a volumetric sensor, wich was failing when car was driving especially in high speeds or with the driver window open, so this sensor missreaded and opened the lock, something like that, but i will make a call later and ask him more and detailed.

as soon as i find something i will write you...........

Thanks but the problem is that the rear boot lock does not work at all (its totally shortcircut and does not lock the boot), which makes daily usage very difficult. eg. I have to take off all the tape straps every time I go shopping and then put them back on, several times a day. It also makes it easy for any thief to get into the car. Really stupid I think.

You need to give up on your current dealer and take your truck to a different dealer that can fix your problem and treat you correctly. Really, it's just a door lock problem. Call MB customer support in your country and ask for their help too.

Good luck! I feel better now because I thought this type of problem only happened in the US.

Its funny.. Im certain that I posted a reply here last night and now it's vanished Anyway here it is again:

Two days ago I called DaimlerChrysler services and told them about the problem and bad customer service. Last night the same guy from the workshop called me and told me to bring in the car in the morning. He also said that he had been contacted by DaimlerChrysler etc., I said ok and today I have handed in the car and also notified them about the scratch on the bumper. He said he will try to polish it or otherwise they will have to repaint the whole bumper. Lets see what happens I will keep you posted.

Thumbs up

Good news: Got the car back today, boot lock has been fixed and scratch on bumper was also fixed. I wonder how they fixed the scratch without repainting the bumper.. It feels strange that all the tape straps are gone and its almost unbelieveble that everything works fine now.

Service was good today, everyone was smiling and they even offered me an ice cream while I was waiting for a last software update
