SRS Warning light came on!

My SRS Warning light came on the dash. The message also says: "SRS Restraint Malfunction... Drive to Workshop".

Ok, what exactly is malfunctioning? I called TeleAid. They wanted to tow the car. They said it was dangerous to drive it further. They said the airbags might deploy!.

I called my local MB dealer. Service Dept. says it's okay to drive. I scheduled an appointment. Service said bring it in on appointment date.

Whats your guys' opinion on the problem and severity of the problem. I've only had the ML for 3 months and already a problem. I am a little disappointed.

Its OK to drive if you are OK that an airbag might not deploy in an accident. Could also be a seatbelt tensioner. I would get it in ASAP though. Should be easy to find the problem with the STAR diagnostics and easy to fix once the problem is found. This is not a big deal.

same thing happend to me

I told my dealer that I was slightly concerned about driving on the freeway to the dealship if the airbags are malfunctioning, but the service agent was almost laughing at me, (i've never received good service) he said everything's fine and just brnig it in. I drove carefully to the dealer and it turned out to be a sensor malfunction and the rear side air bags would not deploy in an accident. they had to order a part from germany, and it took 3 weeks to get to canada, meanwhile, i had to drive eveyday with the SRS light on. You should take it in ASAP and have it towed if it's free.

Mercedes is having some issues with the wiring to the contact spiral of the steering wheel. It's ok to drive, don't be too worried. There's a modification we do to the wiring harness. It's a known issue and should be fairly easy to fix.

Just got the car back from my local MB dealer. Had the Welcome Service done along with the SRS malfunction. Here is what my invoice says:

CONCERN: SRS Light ON
CAUSE: Poor Connection
CORRECTION: Test & Found Fault Code 9200, Too High Resistance in Airbag Squib

COMMENT: Replaced all electrical connectors per DTB 91.60/93C

Im satisfied

2006 ML350
Same Problem

My 2 month old ML350 did the same thing yesterday. I parked at my office, one hour later I started the engine and received the same warning. I have an appointment tomorrow for them to check out..

My Honda minivan did the same thing a few months ago, apparently there was an airbag sensor recall. It's all fixed now.

2006 ML350
My ML350 came back from the service center last evening. It was also a Code 9200. My vehicle was manufactured in May of 06 so this appears to be a common ongoing issue. It is fine now and it was a fairly quick repair.

Same issue with mine also, dealer states that it is a common issue in terms of the wiring harness. According to SA, it will eventually become a recall situation.

Also, there is also a recall on the exhaust bracket for the ML, FYI for all 06 ML owners.

Exhaust bracket? Was this a problem with yours and was fixed already? What exactly is the problem with the bracket?

Mine just came on yesterday. I have a one week wait before getting it serviced.
