It's a ML 500. It will fit to 350 and 500. and it will cost about 1200 Cad dollar include painting and installation.

Porsche 996 Targa, ML 320CDI on order
Hi KarmaQ,

Does the cornering light (which uses the foglight, part of the Bixenon package) still works when you get the Brabus fog lights installed ?

Thx

So, are two of the lights fogs and two driving? If there are two additional driving lights, in addition to the regular main and high beams, that means there would be 6 lights on in high setting. I seem to remember it's illegal to display more than 4 total headlamps per NHTSA/DOT in the US.

Took some searching, but I think this is it:

CFR Title 49, Cahpter V, Part 571, Section 108 (CFR 49 571.108):

"S7.6 Combination Headlighting System. A combination headlighting system shall be comprised of either two headlamps designed to conform to the requirements of S7.6.2, or any combination of four headlamps designed to conform to the requirements of S7.3.7, S7.4, or S7.5 of this standard.

S7.6.1 A combination headlighting system shall provide in total not more than two upper beams and two lower beams. When installed on a motor vehicle, the headlamps (or parts thereof) that provide the lower beam shall be of the same type, and provide a symmetrical effective projected luminous lens area when illuminated."

http://www.washingtonwatchdog.org/do...1.html#571.108

Auxiliary fog lights and driving lights are both considered headlights. If you notice, fog lights are always Switched off if both pairs of headlamps are on for high beam. I don't know how the Brabus system conforms to this requirement, but it looks cool.

Greg, You are correct. This lighting system will not be DOT approved let alone getting thru any State inspections. However I believe this guy is not from the US. Also, too much or the incorrect light frequency of the fogs will negate their purpose and will reflect back into the driver's eyes creating what could be a dangerous situation.Funny how people sacrifice practicallity and safety for what they believe is better looking!!!

Yes, it appears karmaQ is Canadian, since he references Canadian $ (why doesn't everyone list their home?). I mentioned this for the benefit of the many US members here, since the lights are on their US price list:

164-252-00
Foglight and Highbeam moulding incl. a set of foglights and highbeams
for original bumper (not styling AMG code 772)
$795.00
installation $225.00
painting $250.00

Personally, I would not be deterred from installing the kit. You could only be cited for using more than 4 lights, not having them (note all the off-raod rigs with light bars), I beleive, and there is a slim chance of that unless you were already doing sometiing else wrong.

I don't know why the same wiring going to the OEM lights cannot be hooked up to the Brabus fogs. The extra high beams seem a little superflous given the abundance of light with the factory HID setup; I guess I would tend to hook them into the high beam circuit with an additional manual switch for use out in the boonies.

Here in PA you would have a slim to none chance of getting thru the annual PA inspection. They even check to determine if the lights are DOT approved. Pretty much the same goes for NJ. As for the light bars on off the road vehicles, they are exempt if they are above the height of the cab of the truck. Guess you could go to a small inspection shop somewhere and give the guy a good tip but thats not the point. Friend of mine put an aftermarket Xenon kit on his Ford truck and got nailed.

Perhaps you were lucky or lived in a rural area. Some bank robbers do not get caught either.
