On my GL they touch the doors. Had no idea how the scratch was appearing on the drivers door, till someone else with a GL told me he turned his mirrors off because of the scratches. Went to look at mine, and that was the cause of it!

Even if they're not completely touching, in a windstorm they will scratch your doors. I just live with the scratches because I like to keep the mirrors folded.

Do NOT use the folded mirrors as a visual cue as to whether the doors are locked! I can't remember the exact sequence but it IS possible to unlock the doors and still have the mirrors folded.

If you unlock the car, the mirrors stay folded. When you open the door, they unfold. I know if you unlock the car and don't open a door it will relock, but I think there was a way for the car to stay unlocked WITH the mirrors folded.

Will have to try it out on my truck, but I think it was something like: unlock doors with remote, go open hatch using handle on hatch, shut hatch (using power close button, not power close and lock button).

The doors haven't been opened so the mirrors are folded BUT the car is not locked at all.
