ML Rattles?

ML Rattles?
Just had an 06 ML350 with appearance pkg loaner. Loved the car so much, except the rattles. This thing rattled so badly, front door panels, rear tailgate area, etc. Had 10k miles on it. Do you guys experience a lot of rattles? I was dissapointed.

Fortunately we've experienced the opposite. We picked ours up in April 05 and have been impressed with the extremely smooth ride - no rattles and also none of those much discussed tranny issues. Knock on wood...
The seals around one passenger window and the sunroof had to be replaced though because they started to leak after one year (small hissing at 40+mph). No big deal.
I'd recommend the W164 in a hearbeat, especially now that it comes with smarter options packaging, more deals and the CDI option.

Absolutly no rattles at all. Tight as the day I took delivery in Sept 05. Much tighter than the previous W163's I had. In fact the vehicle has been flawless in all areas.

My car rattles like hell...especially in the tailgate area...I have taken it to the dealer several times but they cant find a solution for the problem..

If I have one thing to complain about in my ML is the rattles. I do seem to have a lot, especially from the rear, but also from the front cup holder area and center console.
One rattle that you can fix yourself is to remove the cargo cover completely and leave it at home, assuming you don't need it. I noticed that it doesn't fit as snugly as I would like. And I haven't tried it yet, but another forum member, I believe it was AR.Shah has a possible solution to the tailgate rattle.

My rattling in the back was traced to my license plate bolt. I removed the license plate holder. I used a wrench to tighten down one of the bushing because it was loose. The rattling is much improved, but is still present once in a while when there is a lot of bump on the road. I had taken my ML350 about 7-8 times for other probs since June 2006 (I got it in May 2006). Frustrating. Tis life! lol

I have an 06 ML350 with 36,000 miles and it is as tight and quiet as the day I bought it. It is one of the smoothest and quietest vehicles I have ever been in.

rattles
have had my car since october '05, and have had a minor (but annoying) small rattle from the center console and a rattle from the cargo area that seems to have resolved, i agree that it seemed to have come from the cargo management cover cross-bar vicinity, but the noise is gone. otherwise, it's a fairly quiet car, and am happy with my purchase. also, maybe people beat up on the loaner a bit...
