SRS Malfunction

The SRS Malfunction light has come on twice in the last eight months on my wife's 2006 ML350.

In 12/2006 I took the ML to the dealer and they did the following work :

"Found airbag code 9200. Performed OP 1 of DTB T-B-91.60/93E. Replaced airbag line to steering column module. Then cleared codes and verified proper ops."

In 5/2007, light on again. Back to the dealer and they did the following:

"Found fault 9200. Inspected wiring and connections to steering column module. Found solder connections are seperating. Repaired all contacts for airbag harness in steering column. Reset computer system and recheck operation."

All the work was performed free under WARRANTY. Hopefully they have solved the problem as I am tired of taking the car to the dealer to fix a variety of problems.

Usually its the plastic sensor plate in the front passenger seat which is defective, you can do a small test:

Have someone heavy sit on it and see if the SRS lamp disappears, if so then its definately the sensor plate.

I thought the srs problem was asosiated with the steering column and not the passenger seat. Thats what they told me here in Quito they also said there was a recall on it!

i also have this "clicking sound" on my steering column, so prolly its the bearing issue, maybe this also has got to do with the srs error.

I think mine has come on 4 times. Typical MB quality.

Just had this error pop up today. Taking it in to the dealer Saturday morning to get it fixed. Hopefully it's an easy fix.
