Heated seats and Leather?

Tried configuring an 08 ML550 on MBUSA and it seems you cannot get the heated seats package if you have leather seats. That doesn't make sense. Does anyone know if that is an error?

I just tried using the Build Your Own" and you are right. When you check option 323 Heating Package the system deselects option 318 Leather Seating Surfaces and vice versa.

My guess is the there is a flaw in the system and you can order both. If you are really interested, call a MB dealer and ask whether both can be added as options.

I would like to bring this back up, since it seems as though the heating package cannot be ordered with the leather package even for the 2009 models.

Does anyone know why this is, I would imagine that the heating package would be more likely to be ordered with leather rather than in a stripped down model.

Any information would be helpful!

I have a 2008 ML350 Edition 10 with both. It has leather and heated front seats.

In Canada you can order any combination of heated / heated and cooled / leather seating on the '09 ML550. (On the other hand, the AMG look is an option here but standard in the US.) I'm not sure what good configuring an '08 would do you as the factory has been building '09s for several months now.

Can't be done in the U.S. Leather comes with the wood steering wheel. The heating package contains front, rear & heated seats, and heated steering wheel. Since one cannot heat a wooden steering wheel, the heating package is not available with the leather package.

This is really a dumb move by MBUSA...make the leather wheel a no charge add option with leather, and they would sell leather packages AND heating packages. I wanted the heated wheel, so I was forced to order MB-Tex, instead of leather. MBUSA lost a leather sale because of this. I would really like to know who the moron is at MBUSA that puts these option packages together.

yeah - i don't understand this either. i have a s550 that has a wood steering wheel and it's heated. now, i know that the steering wheels are different between the s and ml - but certainly the technology is the same. and for a $65,000+ truck - you should be able to have both leather and heat! it's just not right.

The really funny part is that the heated rear seats are not available at all with leather (since heated fronts are still a stand alone option).

Also, MB has had heated leather and wood wheels for a while now, so even if they do not want to offer it on this model, heated leather or leather/wood should be no charge options between the two when ordering leather and heating packages together.

I know there has been rampant decontenting in the past few years, and we really need to speak up against this. BMW has far more available in every model (except S, CL, SL).

I agree. I've driven BMW's for 35 years, in addition to the 4 ML's that I've had. I will probably replace the ML320cdi with an X5 Diesel, to get the options that I want, as well as BMW's superior maintenance.
