Lost with Nav
Went to visit a college in Conn. I entered the destination in nav.& the college wasnt there. I tried everything-college name, street name, town name, still not there. Its not like its a new school, its been @ the same location for about 75 yrs. I entered the school in my Garmin & she found it on about 10 sec. Has this happened to anyone else??..........On a positive note, I got about 23 mpg on the ML.

I'm not surprised with your experience. I've been very disappointed in the nav in every MB I've been in that is why I chose to go aftermarket rather than get a European Comand unit when I had the chance.

This kind of thing is pretty typical. However, you should report it to Navteq. They have an online form you can fill out with the details so that future maps will be updated.
I second the comments about the Garmin. My friend just got a Garmin Nuvi 200W, and the thing is awesome. So much better than the MB system it isn't even funny. All of this in a compact package for only about $250. Even with nav in my car, I've still considering purchasing one of these units.

With most of the Garmin units, you can even load topo maps, if you want to take your ML off the paved highway.

Could the college be in a township or one of those not-well defined named areas?
Down here in South Florida we have a huge township out west called "Weston." Half the addresses in Weston will not come up under that city. But, if you look for them under Fort Lauderdale, they're right there!

I have had similar experiences. The MBnav is a joke compared to almost any other available. What really gets to me is several times when a specific address would not be recognized, I could find it by scrolling the map and pointing to it. Then the exact address I was hunting shows up and navigates to it!! It's nuts!

This was a surprise to me: I was told that navteq has only 8 people driving around confirming roads!? They take a pic via satelite convert it to a map then drive around confirming roads. Can anyone confirm this? You would think that all navi units would share the same maps!!!!

My nav defaults to NY so when I'm going to CT or NJ I have to enter the State first.
I think that may be the ticket.
