Jus got my 08 ML550

Mine is Black on Black. I have been unsuccessful in finding an aftermarket source for a solid black grille w/o any chrome. Got a decent deal - $5k under invoice ( $9k off the sticker.)

I'd like to keep my std grille as a backup.

Anyone have sources for me?
Thanks in advance....

just go and fine a ml350 with a black grill and paint the chrome strips on that grill. probably the cheapest way.

you can find them on craigslist every once and a while for like 20 bucks.

Sounds like a plan. Thanks!
It looks pretty cool - the Black ML550 sitting next to the Alpine Rain ML63 in the garage.

The sticker was $58,870 and marked down to $49,820. According to the TMV, it was about $5k below invoice. I'm just glad that we didn't get the ML63 in black last November. We almost did. 1 black vehicle is hard enough to take care of but 2?? I did not have a choice - they only had 2 550's on the lot and both were black. I traded in my old 06 ML500 (white/black). The engine volume was annoying and the transmission was getting klunkier/more jerky as it got older.

Started out with an ML500 and a Porsche 911 coupe C4S. Sold the C4S to buy the 63. Could not stand the 500 anymore an considered the RR Sport SC but the South Bay (Torrance, CA) dealership has recently become the worst in the world and it is the only one for several miles. A$$holes tried to screw us a month ago. Sooooo, the ML was a 2nd choice and its faster then the RR Sport and an all around better everyday/weekend beater. His is the 63, which will be hers when he buys the Bentley Conty GT in the future. Jus plain tired of the little sports car that is not very useful for everyday stuff. We both like the ML styling and bang for the buck plus it's so useful. And fast! The Rr Sport SC is a dog in comparison. And why so much more money for less performance, etc., etc.? Must be the snob factor. LOL! Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Looks great in Black, how do you compare the 63 to 550? Checked your deal out, you got it for 400 under invoice not bad at all.

08' ML550
Agreed-
Living in SoCal with the traffic and drivers is bad enough so I like to sit up a little higher than the cars to see what is going on.
I found my sports car was sitting all the time and my 550 is great for everyday stuff. Plus it hauls my dogs and trailer and is fast as hell!
Everyone has the RR Sport around here but they are slow and heard about too many mechanical issues.
I have over 70K now in my 550 with all the options and with another 15k or so I could have had a 63! Well, live and learn!

I got a great deal - more than ...whatever. Getting back to my original Q, I guess I will take off my grille and have it painted.

You got a spectacular deal, just for your reference all Mercedes are marked up 7% from invoice. So in your case your MSRP was 58880.00, you subtract the destination which is usally 875 and this case would put it at $58805.00. You multiply that number by 93% which is 54688.00 but you have to add back the 875 destination plus a mandatory dealer advertising fee which is 400 which all dealers pay. So your invoice is 55693 before any factory incentives. On the ML550 there is 5000 retail cash so your true invoice is 50693.00. Alot of salespeople can be misleading as we all know. In addition there is another 5.25% of invoice called holdback that the dealers get paid from Mercedes.

Regarding the grill I had the grill on e55 painted black to match the car about a year and half ago. They warned me that it would chip but so far I only have one tiny chip. Make sure you get a good body shop and use lots of flex agent.

Where is this info? It is not on the Mercedes website? They made no mention of it at all. Only 3.9% financing is mentioned.
