LED conversion - Pics inside

I finally replaced all interior bulbs with LED today. I used the Xenon Super White Bulbs with the license plate lights to avoid the warning on dashboard. It looks amazing compared to the amber lights. I didn't realize how many lights there were until I started replacing them. The nice thing about it was that there are only 2 types of LEDs you need. All bulbs came from Autolumination.com. Probably could get better prices elsewhere, but they had everything in one place. Total cost for all the LEDs $114.22 + shipping

Here's a write up of what I used.

(2) License Plate: 39mm LED Festoon Dome Bulbs = $6.99/each
(2) Map Light: 194 Superstar Bulbs = $6.99/each
(1) Rear Dome Light:194 Superstar Bulbs = $6.99/each
(4) Foot Area Lights ((Front/Back Driver/Passenger): 39mm Festoon Dome Bulbs = $6.99/each
(4) Under Door Lights (Front/Back Driver/Passenger): 39mm Festoon Dome Bulbs = $6.99/each
(2) Vanity Lights (Driver/Passenger): 39mm Festoon Dome Bulbs = $6.99/each
(2) Back Driver/Passenger Side Lights: 194 Superstar Bulbs = $6.99/each
(1) Trunk Light: 39mm Festoon Dome Bulbs = $6.99/each

The warning on dash is for outside bulbs. You don't get any warning for in-cabin lights. I found that these LED bulbs for the license plate does not give the warning. These are so bright they look awesome at night.

Hey MK330ci I just ordered a pair of LED bulbs for the license plates too and hopefully they won't give me the warning but I was wondering how is yours so far? Is it still working? Thanks and I was wondering if you ever changed the parking lights to LED too?

Virex do yourself a favor and skip the Hoens. I went from the Hoens to this 39mm festoon bulb that this idiot recommended which was too big and also gave me the warning messages... The Hoen are no way near the color or whiteness and brightness of the pictures shown. Also I order the Hoens wedge bulbs and the driver side blew out after only 2 months.

Well no I ordered a different set from Ebay that is 36mm which is the CORRECT size for our ML and when it gets here I'll try it and see how it goes. Hopefully it doesn't give me the warning messages but if it's bright and white enough then I can deal with it.

^So 36mm is the right size, not 39mm like the OP suggests. FML, I ordered 39mm from autolumination.com Will the 39mm work in the ML. I'm gonna be really frustrated if the OP has the wrong size down.

New ML 350 and want to do the LED Bulb Conversion

Shot out some private messages to the posters on the thread but thought I would post to the group as well....

I just got a new 2009 ML350 and want to replace all of the bulbs with the LEDs (I did this previously on my Acura MDX)...\

SO this thread mentions using 39mm and 36mm bulbs....

my questions are:
1. For the license plate lights does the 39mm fit?
2. What about the other light places inside the cabin that are mentioned using 39mm....I assume 39mm fits or is it 36mm as well?
3. Another post showed a different light (8 LED model) that said was used for the License Plate lights....can I use same for the interior lights? Would it be too bright?
4. Any more specifics on the light type for the other places that use the the "195"? type bulb...looks like the merchant mentioned has many different "195" type bulbs....I want to make sure I purchase the correct model...
5. How hard is it to "pop" the lens covers on the interior? Looks like for the license plate covers you just unscrew the covers but inside it looks like you have to "pop" the plastic lens covers off? Any tips on how to do this?
6. Finally what about the ambient light for the cup holders, storage console between seats, and under the front driver and passenger dash...can those be replaced? I don't like the amber light and prefer white....If they can be replaced any idea on how to do that or what size the bulbs there are?

THANKS!
Jeff

Very nice

Sometimes I feel the lack of sufficient light at the rear seats. This may solve the problem

2009 ML350
OK so I got the interior door (front and back) and under dash lights installed...I have a 2009 ML350 and the festoon lights HAVE TO BE 39mm....36mm will be too short....

A couple of issues I am hoping someone can help me out on....

1. I tried to install the 39mm Festoons for the license plate and I cannot get them to come on...I reversed how I mounted the lights to no avail...I tried a different LED as well....Seems the lights I have won't work for the License Plate? Does this make any sense that the Lights that work everywhere else inside won't work with the License Plate lights?

2. How do you get the covers off the above side lights in the back interior? Mine allow you to push in 1 side of the lens to turn them off...Just need to know how to pop the lens off....

3. Same deal as #2 but for the front overhead interior lights with the big lens....How do you get those lens off?

And also the single light on the tailgate interior....is not a Festoon shape....it is a 194 bulb....

Look forward to your help on this! THANKS! Jeff

I have a 2006 ML new body style and 39mm didn't work in my car, interior or license plate. 36mm is the way to go for sure. Idk if the warning light will go off for the license plate if u use the bulbs from the website that the OP mention. Changing the interior bulbs is rather easy and will not throw on a warning. The hardest part is the big light up front. U just have to pull hard.

The back seat lights next to the "oh poop" bar, simply pop off. Just make sure that you pry from the end that activates the light. The other end actually stabs in horizontally, so prying there will snap the tab. Does anyone know the bulb size for the two in the overhead console (front)? I bought a kit from an online vendor and the bulbs are too large to push in and twist. Thanks in advance...

I've tried replacing the reverse lights with the LED style. The bulbs fit just fine, but wouldn't illuminate. I was told that the LEDs would need a capacitor.

No, I haven't found the correct bulb for the front dome lights. All of my interior lights are LED now along with the license plate lights and puddle lamps. I'm hoping to have some free time soon to do more research on finding the correct bulb. Please let me know if you do so.
