Both are attractive but white is much easier to keep clean and believe it or not shows less grime.

Went with white and cashmere MB-Tex. Don't regret it at all.

Nothing fine like a detailed black vehicle, nothing more of an eye sore than a dirty black vehicle lol. I bought my truck in white since its a truck and used accordingly. If you keep vehicles clean consistently then go black.

i don't know why people say white is easier to keep clean. i just saw one the other day and was thinking how crappy it looked dirty.

i really like it both ways, i was on the fence like you. black and white were the ONLY colors i considered. my thoughts were that white looked awesome from the front because of the nice contrast between the white body and the black vents. but then the chrome trim kind of blends in with white, so then you don't get the nice contrast on the sides, like you do with a black car. those chrome accents are what set apart the newer 164s from the older ones. adding on the chrome foglight rings and hood fins give the front a little contrast on a black car

so in the end i went with black, but i still feel ambivalent. i'd have been as happy with white... plus while i see both colors pretty frequently, i feel like black is much more common, so white would be a lil better to stand out from the crowd

I have had my black ML since last Fall, my first black car. I can't believe how hard to keep it clean over the winter here in DC. maybe it's the shape of the SUV, the back of teh car is like a sticky pad for all the dirt out there. Liek it said here, when clean a black mercedes is nice to look at, but be prepared to wash it daily. On the other hand, my pearl white car looks a lot better when both are dirty.

Have had my share of black vehicles. I am on my 2nd ml350. It is an 09 Peweter w\grey leather. Does not show the dirt as much as white or black. I'll admit it does not sparkle as much when clean and freshley waxed but I think it looks pretty good. White won't show scratches or imperfections like black. If these were the only two color options available I would go with white.

I agree. I am on my 4th ML, one black, one a dark metallic blue, one Alpine Rain and now a Steel Gray. The black was very attractive but I will not go thru what it takes to keep it looking that way, the blue was also very nice but again difficult to keep clean, Alpine Rain was easy to keep clean but I became bored with the color. Now with Steel Gray I think I have the best of them all.

I have the metallic red one. White is always dirty, like black. black will heat up like hell in the summer.

I just went through this with the GF, she couldn't decide between white and black, silver looks strange from the front for some reason so we decided on a black/black ML550, it looks really good, the contrast is great.

I was a black car lover for years, then we switched some to white, tough to keep clean with those little pin head size rust spots which come from airborne brake dust, you must always use a clay bar to geat rid of those little spots which can easily invade a cars exterior, so I switched our next cars to irridium silver, first off with the 08 C63 AMG and then my wifes 09 ML350, both in irridium and easy to keep clean and look clean, no swirls or those little spots of rust on white....yeah some people might think that I am boring, but for a neat freak it is pure heaven.

I would go with black for sure if i had the choice between the two, hence why black vehicles typically sell for more than white vehicles in general. I know the black car shows dirt slightly more than white, but in my opinion even a slightly dirty black benz looks better than a polished up white one, but that's just my opinion.

This thread will probably show on every XXX search. And then somebody answered:
"Once you go black you dont go back"
LOL

....I always get my Benz in Black on Black for some reason. Benz in any other color does not look like Benz to me.

GL450 w/ Off-road pkg.
GL owner chiming in here, only because of the color choice. My GL is silver, with a grey interior, and I'd like to pick up an ML sometime in the coming year. I'll likely never buy a lighter (white or silver GL or ML again, at least with the current body styles). I do like white better, but with my friend's white ML and my silver GL, the sunlight reflections off the "humps" on the hood drive both of us absofrickinlutely nuts. The glare isn't nearly so bad on a black GL owned by another friend. If I lived in the Sun Belt, I'd understand, and I'd have a really good set of sunglasses in my glove box all of the time! That's my 2¢ worth.

White would be the LAST choice for me. The wife currently has a white mini-van and it is miserable to clean. Grime, road tar, bugs, stains from puddles.....you name it, white will show it all.
Black will show every imperfection(swirls, scrathces), but looks the best when clean. I have Iridium Silver with black leather.....would highly recommend it to anyone.
