Mud Flaps or Splash Guards

Anyone have them?

Would like your input - looking for a set to protect the trailer from road debris (actually to protect the car on the trailer).

If you've got 'em or had 'em, which did you have, and were they effective?

Thanks,
Mike

The ones that were offered by MB in my estimation really detract from the looks of the ML. Do not know how effective they are nor do I know if they are still available. Quite frankly I think they are downright ugly. Have no idea if any aftermarket ones are available. Why not just get an enclosed trailer or cover the car thats on your trailer.

Sosh, I appreciate the thoughts, but...
Enclosed Trailer - too expensive and more load on the ML than I'd like.
Car has clear bra, but additional covers will slap it in the wind and do more damage.
There is a front shield available for the trailer at a high cost, but it interferes with access to both the tire rack and the rings to secure the car (straps).
I don't care about looks - if I did I would have the BMW instead of the ML-CDI!
Two flaps would provide a lot of protection I think, and that's what matters. Being closer to the wheels that kick up the junk, they can be smaller than a trailer shield or covers for the car. Of course Mercedes is very proud of theirs and expects a high price as a result. There are some cheapos on eBay but I have no idea if they last, attach properly, etc. Thus my questions - experience with any of them would make for valuable input to my decision.
Thanks
Mike

Mikemcn,
If you ask the majority of the people who would not sound like a troll in their posts, they would tell you that the flaps are not only useful but make the ML look much better. IMO they complete the look of the truck.
I'm sure there was a discussion about it before and many of the posts were in favor of the flaps. Check this link and you will know what I'm talking about http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w164...rds-flaps.html

You might want to start with the OEM flaps and if they are not big enough for you then you can try aftermarket ones. Good luck !

My friend has just brought me a set of ML350 mud guard from taiwan. They look very nicely made and OEM with the mercedes logo and samll ML350 stamped on the inside. The front pair fit nicely, but pre-drilled holes for the screws are not matching the existing screws on the SUV. The back pair do not seem to fit perfectly. They will fit, but I have to press them in quite a bit. I am wondering if these are for pre-face lift 06 to 08 moodel?
Any one knows if they are different?

Taiwan made?? Could be but I doubt if they are MB OEM. Most likely knock offs. Perhaps thats why they do not fit correctly. Just because they have the MB logo and the model on them does not make them OEM.

This day and age, I doubt anyone would make even knock offs that would not fit. I doubt that's the case, maybe I'd try find an older W164 and see if they fit.

This day and age and from that part of the world I really question everything. Do they have an MB part number on them?? I doubt it. Even if they do fit an older one I doubt if they are genuine.
