Recommend the Michelins!

Ok, I have never used the Blizzaks, but the Michelin Alpins are working really well. We've had ice, slush, light snow, and heavy snow. Went through about 12"+ in the drive here that had been there a while. ESP off, lower gears, and it just went!

Merry Christmas!

Is it true that factory tires are more than enough for moderate snow? I am going to go to mountain next week and I do not want to change the tire. The tires are factory as there are only 1800 mils on my car.

The standard factory tires on all except the ML63 are so-called all season tires. They are usually OK for mild snow and not-too-cold temperatures, just as long as you remember that 4WD doesn't stop you any faster than 2WD. Optional 20- and 21-inch wheels typically come with performance summer tires; they will slide around if it snows in the next state, so proper snow tires are essential.

Not entirely true -- My '06 came with 19" Michelin Diamaris, which are summer tires, not all season.

No complaints. I actually ran the original tires last summer and will again this year because I had 20s on for a while. But, at $266 ea. (255/50 ZR-19) at Tire Rack they are pretty pricey.
