These are expressly forbidden by Mercedes and are a potential safety hazard.
Most REAL Mercedes mechanics won't let you out of their shop without removing them first.
Put car wax on your wheels and the dust won't stick as much and will wash off much easier.

2011 GL450, '06 R500 traded, '08 ML350 sold
These became popular in the 80s and they worked as intended (keep wheels cleaner) HOWEVER there is a problem. They keep the brakes from ventilating using the proper airflow as designed so they overheat and become a safety hazard as stated above. You don't want to use them.

I use Michelin Brake Dust Repellent. I bought it at Canadian Tire. In the US, I believe Autozone sells it. It works -- it partially stops the dust from adhering to the wheel and it makes hosing it off much easier.
