Is Service A free?

My 2011 ML350 (bought in April) is due for service A according to the computer...I assume this is a free as part of the warranty?
The car only has 1500 miles, so I doubt there would be anything wrong...

Thinking of bringing it into MB of Redwood City for those in the Northern California area any experience with them?

Yes, the first little look over is free.

If you need anything, it's not.

Why would replacing a part not be free? What does the warranty even cover then?
I was shocked to hear that oil changes aren't free but with my BMWs they were during their warranty periods. But someone pointed out BMW probably factors in the oil change prices into their cars, whether that is true or now I dunno

Warranty does NOT cover maintenance. Warranty covers parts and labor charges required for repairs during the coverage period. Maintenance is on the owner, and AFAIK it has always been this way. BMW has this free maintenance marketing scheme to attract more buyers. I have read reports (can't speak of their validity) that BMW splits the maintenance bill with the dealership, and because of this a lot of dealers are doing sloppy maintenance work to cut corners.

Now, whether one actually pays for the maintenance in the form of inflated pricing up front or not, it depends on how you see it. Does your local grocery store actually give you anything REALLY for free whenever they run a "buy one - get one" deal? Was the complementary cup of java offered at my MB dealership last Saturday really free? I think not.

None of the Service Intervals are free...........

A,B,C,D,E,F.......and so on, with or without warranty........however if you have warranty, and there are parts that are not working, those parts could be claimed under warranty.

I went in for Service A, paid for it, but had the alternator replaced for free including the labor, as it was defective and was not charging the battery (this was on my C350) but Service A still came out to over 200 bucks......

How much is service A? I assume it better be a fixed price versus Dealer A having a slightly better price than Dealer B...I will tell MB to suck my donkey dik

If you have multiple dealers, shop around. I have one dealer. They know it. $300 with tax, give or take.

I am approaching my first service A in a few months. My local dealer charges 300 dollars. Seems like a lot for a glorified oil change. I think i need to call around.

They charge 600 for the service B..

Looks like $300 in Tyler, TX for Service A is about in the middle. I won't complain. Too much.

It is similar price here in Toronto - change oil + checking key points ...

Parts are ~140 $ + 1 hour labor + tax ...

I just made an appointment for my B service, and in Reno it's $325. Oil change, all filters, and a look see with the expensive machine that goes "BING"....

service A is basically just a oil change. i did the oil change on my ML myself and just reset the light. for the CL, i just take it to the dealer and have them change the oil. they will reset the light as well. i was charged about $200 for a V12 oil change. not too bad to me. just traded in the cl and ml for a 2011ml and 2010 s400. the first a service is free from the dealer.

to those commented about the free bmw services..... why don't you go buy one
