Loose Shifter, Blinker Column

On my '06 model ML, when using either the shifter, blinker, or cruise control stalk, the entire plastic steering column assembly rotates like there is a screw or bolt loose somewhere. Looking underneath the column there is what looks like a deep screw hole, but I can't see in there well enough to see if a screw is present. Perhaps it fell out. Does anyone have any suggestions? The steering wheel itself is tight and fine.

Thanks,

Rob

Center the stalks and with an extended T27 male Torx socket, tighten the bolt, but don't over do it.

I have the same problem but only in summer! Really, when the car is standing in the sun for couple of hours, only in mid summer, like now, only do I have the same issue. Would it still be resolved by the same method as you described.
Only I think you mean T30, not 30mm.
Thanks

Did you try to tighten the bolt?

The bit is too short. Have to get a longer one.

Have no idea why.

You need an extended T27 socket, i/4 inch drive, not T30..

It's a T27 socket, not a T30.
