W164 ML350 Fuse Diagram (Engine Bay, Trunk, Battery Area, Passenger Foot Area) MY2011

Not too long ago I went looking for the fuse box diagram for the rear SAM fuse box in my 2011 ML350 and realized the PO must have lost it or taken it (or a shop he took the vehicle to did - along with the owner's manual and spare tire wrench ). For those not aware, the W164 had a separate fuse diagram that accompanied the owner's manual (I found that annoying, but that's for a different post).

Upon realizing it was missing, I probably spent a good 30 minutes or more searching for the fuse box diagrams for my vehicle. On other Mercedes I have owned some kind soul has posted the fuse box diagrams online so it was always just a quick Google search to pull them up, but in the case of the W164 there was no good resource. I found a blurry photo of the engine compartment fuse list, and other bits and pieces, but nothing was readily available. Finally I came across high resolution PDFs of the diagrams, but by then I had burned so much time I was pissed off and no longer able to finish the project I was working on

So without further ado, here are (attached) the four fuse box diagrams for a 2011 ML350 and other trims from that model year (and I am sure this is applicable to other model years - but can't say for sure). I've put together a list of the fuse boxes and highlighted some of the electronics each box has fuses for directly below:

> Engine Bay Fuse Box (left hand side when looking at engine from front of vehicle)
----Among other electronics, this box contains fuses the following:
----------- Front wiper motor
----------- Airmatic compressor (if optioned)
----------- Headlights / Headlamps
----------- ESP control unit
----------- Horn
----------- Starter
----------- Air pump
----------- CDI Control Unit (Glow Plug Controller for ML320 CDI)

> Rear SAM (Trunk) Fuse Box
----Among other electronics, this box contains fuses the following:
----------- Roof antenna
----------- DVD Player and Rear Audio controls (if optioned)
----------- COMAND (radio) unit
----------- Automatic seats
----------- Fuel pumps (left and rights)
----------- Fuel pump sensor
----------- Airmatic control unit (if optioned)
----------- Front Driver and Passenger door control units
----------- Keyless Go control unit (if optioned)
----------- TELE AID Emergency control unit (if optioned)
----------- Backup camera
----------- Rear door closing control unit
----------- All of the cigarette lighter (DC power) sockets throughout cabin
----------- Rear hatch wiper motor
----------- Front SAM control unit
----------- Data link connector (certain models)
----------- Restraint system control unit
----------- Trailer hitch socket (if optioned)
----------- Electric brake controller (if optioned)

> Battery Compartment Fuse Box (under rear of front passenger seat)
----Among other electronics, this box contains fuses the following:
----------- Rear SAM control unit
----------- Cockpit fuse box
----------- Blower regulator for HVAC
----------- Front SAM ECU
----------- Transfer case control unit (if optioned)

> Front Passenger Footwell Fuse Box
----Among other electronics, this box contains fuses the following:
----------- Speedometer / Instrument Cluster
----------- Steering column control module
----------- Electronic Compass
----------- EIS Control Unit (this the primary security module for the Mercedes key system)
----------- 6 CD Changer (if optioned)

Hopefully this helps people looking for this information in the future.

Thank you very, very much for taking the time to post the FUSE CHART for the 2011 MB350. I bought my vehicle from a dealer but the chart was no where in my vehicle.
Happy New Year.

You can order the fuse diagrams from a Mercedes dealer. Look inEPC under tools

does anyone have experience with the prefuse box next to the battery in a 2011 ML350? I'm trying to check fuse 80 for the rear sam but dont actually see fuse 80 - its just black plastic. does the battery have to come out and the fusebox disassembled?

A huge thanks for the files.

One question (and it's not from laziness, that I'm asking); is there a way to open that cover to get to fuse 80 below since I just want to check continuity - or do I have to disconnect every wire and take off the box?.

If I go in sequence, it makes me take off nut 3, then all visible fuses, cables, then get to the nuts. My thought was to go out of sequence and just try to undo the nuts marked (1) and see if that released the plastic cover over fuses 78-82?

I guess i'm worried undoing the whole box maybe asking for trouble.

I've attached the pic of the prefuse box, but I haven't done anything about it yet..

I found 2 of the bulb errors to be true, so I replaced those and reset all the codes. One persistent error is a rear passenger side door open. I found another of your posts https://mbworld.org/forums/m-class-w...n-warning.html where you'd mentioned the door codes to be in the DCM, so I looked for that but found differently named door modules and went there and found a bunch of historic errors which I reset as well.
My car now has zero codes, which sort of gave me hope that it may not in fact be a major fuse (and I'd escape having to fight with the battery). But, as soon as I drive it, it throws the rear passenger door open code, and the cabin lights stay on. Unfortunately in my module list I didnt see a door control module per se (someone said it controlled all 4 doors). I saw 2 door specific modules and a rear door (tailgate) module but didn't see a door value for the lock open - I saw a bunch of values in the central lock module, but nothing that clearly looked applicable so I guess I'm saying I don't know exactly where to view live data for the rear door door latch, if it is that is my problem.

Meanwhile, my brand new icarsoft scanner started acting up so I cant go searching for the freshly triggered rear door error since I obviously could find it by brute forcing through every module. First I have to get back to a working scanner.

Any thoughts you may have on rear door latches or what might be things to go look at in this situation are always gratefully accepted.

Apologies, did not mean to be long winded. I have a passenger rear door issue.

It shows open on the IP and cabin lights are all on, despite no codes in any module. I was trying to explain that in my earlier message but did not do a good job.

Today, I tried fooling with the latch and it easily gets stuck so that maybe it.

I have to replace my scanner before I can do much else.

See if you can get this scanner.
Amazon Amazon

WD40 the latch. It is not an electrical issue.
