2007 ML320 Liftgate
Hello Everyone,
I am new to the Mercedes world, I just purchased a 2007 MB ML320 CDI.
When I first saw the SUV everything was working. when I picked it up the lift gate would not lift but the latch would unlock. I would have to lift the tailgate manually and close it manually. I changed the auxiliary battery because it was dead, and tried to reset the lift gate by unplugging the module under the spare tire and pushing the button on the drivers door, now the latch won't open, I made it worse!!
Do these cars require a re-programing when the main battery is removed and the auxiliary is removed too?
The dealer would always boost the car to start it to show customers.
I thank you all

You should go to STAR diagnosys to clear all errors due to uninstalling the battery. After install ne battery i thig you should go to STAR to "meet the car with the battery".
After that procedure the powered tailgate will work again.
P.P.
How you understand that the AUX battery is dead?

MBWorld Fanatic!
The vast majority of tailgate issues are the result of water entry because of defective tail light seals.
And as a result the water collects at the bottom of the body where the spare tire is stored. And that is where the tailgate module and the hydraulic pump are located.

I verified the auxiliary battery with a multimeter and the reading was zero. The trunk is completely dry no water anywhere. I don't understand what. Is STAR diagnosis.
can you explain. I thank you all for your replies.
