At the bottom of any one of those holes, is there a smaller area that looks like a v ?

If you remove the outside of the connector and the grey hold down plastic, you have access to the springy leaf thingy.

It looks like I might not have got all of the pins properly seated / inserted, any one have any idea as to which pin in particular this refers to?:

I don't think you should be playing anymore with this. You should take it to the dealer or a qualified mechanic.

Are you able to remove the connector without damaging it again?

Can you tell I'm happy!!!

I took the connector out and reviewed the pins, all looked ok so I reinserted the connector and this time I heard a click and, low and behold, no more errors.

I went on a 2-hour drive and I can't believe how incredibly smooth the car is running.

Now, I did mention that this car is a BASKET CASE!!!

Next problem to tackle, care to take a guess as to the issue based on the following picture?:

I'm going to create a new thread with pictures detailing the work to be carried out.

I think that I can confidently say that the rough idle issue has been resolved. I drove the car over the weekend without issues.

On to the next problem!
