Hi,
After a month of a standing idle while I was away, after jump starting, with the ignition off, I found that I have a message "light sensor, drive to workshop".
Is there anything I can do, like checking the fuse or the like to make sure it is indeed the sensor. I believe it is hidden behind the rear view mirror.
The automatic option on the display no longer automatic.

In the future, whenever you will be gone for more that two weeks, the negative battery cable must be disconnected.

Have a go at disconnecting the main and aux batteries. Leave it for an hour or so and connect them back up again. Maybe consider replacing both, if they are in any way suspect.
Don't use a jump to start your car! If you leave it get a "smart charger" and leave it connected. I use one all the time, using the positive terminal under the hood.

The light sensor on the windshield you refer to is not the problem at hand. The message concerns the Rotary Light Sw. on the dash.
