Automatic downshift issue
Car info: Model year 2009 ML350 4MATIC
I stopped my ML while i was driving with manual mode. Before i shift to Park mode, i noticed that odometer displays 5th gear, i expected the transmission to downshift it automatically to 1st gear. Is this normal ? I didn't have this on my 2011 YF Hyundai Sonata.

You were not driving in manual mode - all you did was limit the maximum gear the vehicle will change up to. If you had driven the car, it would have changed up to 5th gear and no further.
To engage manual gearbox setting, press the button to the right of the emergency flashers. But the gearbox will still override your gear selection as you slow down regardless.

You were not driving in manual mode - all you did was limit the maximum gear the vehicle will change up to. If you had driven the car, it would have changed up to 5th gear and no further.

Question is not having automatic downshift when i slow down or stop the car. When i drive the car the gear starts from previous stuck gear for example 5th gear.

If you buy a Scanner, you can see both values in the transmission module.

Hmm funny. Why driver should see target gear instead of showing real gear. But, when i start driving the car, it accelerates from previous gear. This means that, transmission does not downshift as the car reach to stop.
