Cam Magnet premature failures

Regarding 2008 ML350. 110,000 miles . Two years ago, I had a P0025 code and replaced the cam magnet part 272-051-01-77 on drivers side exhaust. The P0025 code came back in September and then disappeared. Now it's back again. I change the oil regularly. The car has been driven 19,000 miles since 2016 when the magnet was replaced.
Over the years, I have replaced all the magnets in the car. But I'm concerned that the P0025 cam has failed too soon. What should I expect regarding the life span of these parts. It seems like the failure is premature. Do you experience frequent failures of the Cam Magnets on these M272 engines? thanks for your help

Did you follow all of these steps to the letter?

Thanks Maj. but I'm not going as deep as the adjusters. Just the solenoid. Are you suggesting that a reoccurring P0025 suggests a faulty Cam Adjuster?

Is there oil in the plug connection of that cam sensor? Have you had the updated harnesses put in?

Haven't pulled the plug connection , as yet. Waiting for new part to arrive. The wiring harness is original equipment. Is MB still replacing these harnesses on the recall? Or is that recall closed?

Not the harness, but there are connectors you add at the sensors that stop oil from spreading. With you VIN i can check for any open campaigns.

I'm not sure I understand the issue. Can you describe the 'oil spreading' problem.

Oil leaks internally in the sensor, spreads up into the harness. There is a bulletin where we add a jumper harness at each cam magnet to prevent it.

But the code was for the adjuster and not the sensor which has its own code which you did not have or post.

It's interesting that the P0025 fault code has disappeared. The ambient air temperature is warmer. That's the only change. These solenoids have an oil hole to keep the piston lubricate in its sleeve . I'm using 5W30 castrol syntec oil and its only 4000miles old. It's difficult for me to believe that these solenoids could be that sensitive, or said another way, that finicky.
