Windshield defrost is not blowing/working
Hi all,
I recently got my ML and really love it. However there are some issues that I have. One is that when I try to defrost the front window, nothing happens. Pushing the defrost button and all of the air is going through the passenger and driver’s blowers only - no air from the window blower nor from the fixed vents on the doors.
Any help would be appreciated!!

Do you have a scanner?
Do you have an owner's manual?

Yes the vents. All the vents for defrosting are not blowing any air. By defrosting vents I mean under the windshield, plus the fixed side vents.
No I do not have scanner.
And I do have the manual but how it will help me with this problem?

Thanks for updating your profile.
I asked about the manual in case I find something you can refer to.
Will air come out of the center vents and the right and left vents if you select that with the dial?
Did you buy the truck with this problem or did it recently happen?

Hello Maj. Dundee! Thank you for the fast reply.
I tried all possible combination but air is not coming from number 1,4 and 9 from the attached picture which I downloaded from the old manual.
I bought it recently so I found that these days.
Also I have noticed that the rear vents does not blow any hot air. Cold air is fine for rear vents, though.

Maj.dundee did you manage to find something? Or can someone send an instruction how to get there so I can check if it is an actuator or some broken lever?

Occasionally some of the levers may get stuck in the closed position. Try this fix:
Select the vent setting not working.
Set the Temp up to maximum.
Turn on Auto.
This will force all air thru those selected vents.
In Summer set the Temp down to the lowest setting you have.

Thank you for your answer CLK group. I am afraid that this method won’t work. Usually what you are telling me is the same as pushing defrost button - maximum power to the vents that are not blowing any air. If i select manually the button windshield accompanied with the vents for the footwell , again to maximum power - no air is coming on the windshield.

Unfortunately any problem with the A/C requires the removal of the top half of the Instrument Panel.
So, to make any call on this would require that the codes be read in the AAC Control Mod.

Do you really want to remove the IP without reading the codes to support it? It could be the AAC Cont. Module and then all the removal would be in vain.
Here is the first procedure so let me know if you want all the rest of the RED procedures on the right.
