Buy or Run Away!
Hi MB Folks!
I have owned and driven an older 80's 300D it was a fantastic car which I sold after 5 years at 400,000 km the lady who bought it from me happily drove another 200,000 km as far as I know the car is still ticking along. Tomorrow I will view a 2006 ML 350 the photos show this car in excellent condition with comparatively low miles in reading online reviews I am a bit apprehensive on this vehicle especially considering it may have expensive balance shaft issues. The VIN: 4JGBB86E86A031726 is it safe to proceed or should I look elsewhere.

The engine on the vehicle you listed is 272967 30 091434, and it has improved parts according to http://www.mercedesmedic.com/check-m...y-vin-m272273/
If it were me I would look for a model without the M272 engine that fit my price and transportation needs. If it were me, I would walk away. Your experience with the 300D has nothing to do with a 2006 ML350.

chassis,
Thank you I will follow your advice and avoid this unit when reading through many of the other member's posts the reliable days of my old 300D seem to be long gone in the German car business. I will keep looking for a vehicle to suit my present needs of carrying family members and a Labrador into the winter backcountry and safely home again.
