ML280cdi 2006, engine stalls/no power and dies.
Hello!
I got a ML280cdi (v6) from 2006.
The issue is, when i start the car, it runs fine on idle, but no power when revving or in Drive...
And then it feels like it struggles to keep running and dies..
What i see is the lights are flickering and the dashboard/instruments also dies when the engine dies, seems like a ground issue or electric fault that causes the engine to have no power and dies.
But when the engine/car is getting some warmth it does not have this issue.
Anyone with similar issue?
I've checked the SAM module, which has been replaced before, it looks good and used electric cleaner to be sure.
No faults on ECU with diagnostics...

The lowbeam headlights is changing like it's not getting full voltage/fading, and the speedometer is also flickering, fading..
Could seem like ground issue or a modul.
And the engine stops after 1-2min on idle, and i have to repeat this like 4-5 times and it's in normal and I can drive.
Other times the car starts normal and is good to go!?

You will have to check four GROUND connections. Loosen the bolt then re -tighten. Do these one at a time, not all at once, then check to see if the problem is corrected. If not move onto the next one.
W2 R/S Headlamp
W9 L/S Headlamp
W10 Battery, also remove the NEGATIVE battery cable first, and clean. Then remove the POSITIVE cable clean and reinstall. Then lastly reinstall the NEGATIVE cable.

Thank you for good info! Checked all these GND points and several more that I found.
Still it does this engine stall and shutsdown..
I did check with Voltmeter now, at first it did charge 14.38volt... then it drops to 11.8v to 11.4-11.6 volt and engine dies.. and after several engine start up it still only do 11.4-11.8volts!
Then i had the ignition on for some time without start up (1-2min) and with a new startup again, it was normal on the thottle and was charging 14.38volt again!
The battery has no issue starting the engine, but something it's either eating all the charge, or the dynamo is malfunction totaly (shortcuting)?
Still strange this only happens when the Engine/car is cold, when i've been messing with this for 10min, its all fine again.
Anyone has had this issue? or more clues I can check out?

You wanted help but it took you 7 days to respond.
You supplied no answer to this.......... W10 Battery, also remove the NEGATIVE battery cable first, and clean. Then remove the POSITIVE cable clean and reinstall. Then lastly reinstall the NEGATIVE cable.
What is the battery voltage after the the truck has sat overnight, w/o the eng. running?
Are there any messages in the Inst. Cluster?
Do you have a scanner?

Yes i checked the negativity and posetive connectors on the battery.
Before startup today it had 11.97volt, which is a bit low..But starts harsh ish and gets the car running. It might be low because it has not been driving because of this issue and never got charged.
To me it happens with fully charged battery too.
At first it's totaly limp mode, but it charges 14.43volts.. then drops to 12.56volt after 2min idle then stops very fast after this.
Then after engine shuts down by it self and ignition is on it has 11.57 volts.
I did a recording of voltage when the engine dies
There is a tons of codes:
2350 No Can from N93
2311 No can from engine management
6001 the voltage too low
5352 B24/15 overvoltage
6002 supply volage too high
9112 Rear Sam is not sending data
9114 OCP not sending data
9100 The instrument clutster no transmitting any data
9001 Undervoltage supply
903D Terminal 30 not present
9005 Control Unit N70 was disconnected from tml 30
9010 the voltage was less than 9.0V during 5 s.
Funny that it charge 14volts then drops to 12, and dies and goes down to 11.5volts..
Did some googling, some suggested alternator regulators that is broken, on car with almost same symptoms.

Hello folks!
Did replace the Dynamo, did see the regulator brushes was worn out.
And did replace the battery to a AMG battery (gel battery).
Now is starts normal and no issues with stalling when trying to get going.
