Need New A/C Compressor
I've been told that I need a new A/C Compressor in my 2008 ML320CDI (WDC1641222A410326).
The part number I am informed that I require is MB-A002230581187 and a MB-A2518350047.
I have also been informed by wreckers/dismantlers that using a used unit is problematic but I am not sure if this is true.
As these are very expensive is it possible to use a different unit without having problems?
If not, where is the best place to source a reasonably priced and reliable replacement?
I am located in Australia
Thanks and regards in advance for any advice.

Yes they are much more expensive here so your link is fantastic.
Istill cannot find the exact same part number (no "87" on the end).
This concerns me because I have been told (perhaps incorrectly) the different units may not work due to some chip internally or similar????
I am worried that if I go this way then I may end up having to go the original and incredibly expensive route.
Also are the Nissens units any good?
Cheers mate

.I'm a bit baffled to think that aus would have a different ac setup.
.fcp euro lists your model as either have a nissens or a denso unit.
I would call then to ask what's up. And check the number of grooves and model number of your current ac pulley. That can help you see which one you have.

Here are some photos:
Original Denso compressor labels.
Replacement Denso compressor label.
Old and new compressors side by side.
Old and new compressors.
The pulley on the new compressor has 8 grooves compared to 7 on the old compressor.
