Key Fob Replacement in Vancouver
Hi
I've washed both of my keys in the washing machine. They keys no longer lock/unlock the doors.
I can use the physical blade key to unlock the driver's door and start the car (which is what I've been doing). I would like to be able to lock/unlock the doors with remote (mercedes or aftermarket).
That's all I want - I don't need security, starter disable ect. I've called the 3 dealerships in Vancouver (Richmond, Vancouver, North Vancouver).
2 said they couldn't do it (it's not longer available for my vehicle), 1 said that they should be able to do it in the next year.
So I went ahead and called private european car repairs shops and locksmiths. No luck so far.
Does anyone know of a place in Vancouver (or the surrounding areas) where I can either get a new fob programmed or an aftermarket fob programmed to lock/unlock the doors?

you need a new key. shop around as dealer charges vary, and you need to get it from a dealer (eBay keys are a scam and will not work; there is no "programming"). you'll need to provide your VIN and proof of ownership. I'd recommend the dealer I found with the best price but it's in US and I'm pretty sure they can't ship out of US.

Thanks for the replies guys. I followed the instructions to clean the circuitry. It didn't work > that key no longer starts the car lol
The 3 dealerships I went to here have told me that Mercedes no longer produces key fobs for this vehicle,. At this point I'd pay the 700 if the dealer could find a way to produce a working fob for me.

In 2013 Smith Motors quoted $280.00 for the electronic fob part and $22.50 for the blade key (this for a 2009 CLK550).

You should post in the correct forum for your car. That doesn't sound right that Mercedes can't make a key for a 14 year old car. When I was driving a 2002 C280, which had an all-plastic keyfob, other members were getting the new style key (with chrome trim) made as replacements.
