Transfer case component upgrades ?
Anyways any advice helps.
Thanks.
Ryan, your wording is not understandable. What plug? Do you mean the cover that that exposes the chain?

The TC is simple...it has an input from the engine. Then, the input shaft goes through to the rear, and the sprocket on the shaft provides torque to the front via the chain. If the rears move from the power of the engine and the fronts don't, then something internally has broken inside the TC...time to open it up and investigate.
Keep in mind that a rebuilt TC from MB is around $6k. I was able to find other rebuilt ones not through MB for about $3k. Then I found a used one on ebay with a 1 year warranty for around $800. Then I decided to R&R the chain for $90. A worn chain is the most common failure, but if yous is not moving at all, you may have other isuues.
Ryan, think clearly. With something as catastrophic as you say, there must be a code/s. What ever you are using to check for codes is not capable of reading the T-case.
Invest in this scanner.
Seeking a quick diagnosis, I tried justanswer yesterday and I had a mechanic indicate that he thinks the transfer case chain has broken and the noise is from the chain rattling around. From hours of searching online, I haven't found a single instance of the TC chain actually breaking....just stretching.
So if the chain is broken, shouldn't I still have power to the rear wheels? Like Ryan, I have no codes...at least none using a Zurich ZR13 reader, which usually has no problem pulling MB specific codes. Any ideas? Guessing the first step is that I should drain the TC fluid and see what it looks like tomorrow.

I mean, yes the transfer case, but any idea what the actual issue is?
It's possible to get the bearings, seals, and chain, but those planetary gears?
Yeah, you'd need to cannibalize another case.
