Change of engine and transmission on ml350

2006 ml350
Change of engine and transmission on ml350
I own a 2006 ml350. Can I fit a 2008 0r 2009 engine and transmission to this chassis. I am tryinh to avoid the balance shaft problem the 2006 model Has. If I fit in the 2008 or 2009 engine, would I have to reprogram anything. I live in Africa and afraid we do not have Mercedes experts here. The car is mint in all other areas and it's only the engine that have been giving me hell. I love the car very much.

Engines might look the same but wiring harnesses and connectors could be different. Why take the chance of buying an eng. & trans. and then remove both your eng. & trans. and find out your new ones won't work.

Thanks Maj Dundee. I am now at a loss but is there no way that the harness could be modified to suit the change?
