ML320 w164 Fog and high beam headlights - not working

Good afternoon,

Usual thing HELP please. High beam does not work, bulbs are fine and the little 7.5 amp no. 112 is fine. The blue indicator light comes on but no warning message... Is there a relay or another joyous computer module somewhere?
This may be my fault (Although I blame my son who said "yes Daddy drive through the little flood..) The 18" of water had a nice time and wetted the front sam unit... a bit well okay a lot. I've had it tested and it came back all clear after drying out and cleaning.... but not convinced..

Wondered if I could pick a feed up off the blue indicator light - add a relay & wires it'd work... but guess front SAM just talks to dash? Alternatively could I pick up the wire from stalk too front sam and drive a relay with that??

The high beam bulbs are just good old dull wiggly wire bulbs.

Any thoughts help would be much appreciated

many thanks Ben

Did you remove the front SAM and remove the covers on it to expose the electrical board for corrosion?

Morning, when it got wet 9 months ago, I removed it and opened it all up so I could dry (couple days by the heater) and cleaned it then sealed the pcb with pcb sealer spray, I've not taken it out recently. But the lights didn't work previously either.

Well you have to look at the front SAM again.

Yeah I think you are correct. I had a diagnostics chap come this afternoon and we found and tested wires from headlights back to the front sam. No problems high low and fog both sides.
Apparently the front Sam, if a bulb blows badly, shuts down some of the affected light functions and the diagnostic won't pick this up. You reset the Sam by turning the ignition on/off 5 times... ?
I've a spare front Sam somewhere so will try it tomorrow... if I find it
does anyone know which relay turns the high beam and fog lights on off?

thank you everyone..

Here is what you have to do.

With the key out of the ign., access connector A in front SAM and remove connector from SAM. Locate wire #9 BLUE and introduce 12v to the wire from the battery and see if LEFT high beam comes on.

The do the same test for the RIGHT high beam, conn. D, wire #8 Black/White.

You must be absolutely sure that you have the correct wire colors before testing.

Oooo interesting sounds like a plan. Out of interest is there a wire from the full beam stalk too the sam? If so which one is it .....if nothing else could be time for an extra relay and a fuse...
thank you

Is it green and black at the Sam? Do you know the pin number? I'm hoping the stalk sends a 12v signal to the Sam or switches to earth ? Either way in which case we've a solution.. hoping to get a look later today..
thank you

The switch goes directly to both headlamps. Wire #11

Ben, at the beginning I supplied you with a test which you never did. Now you want info on the stalk and the fog lights..

The wire #11 info is for the light switch on the left side of the instrument panel.
