Help!!! Hood Open Warning
Hello all,
Two weeks ago on my 08 ML 320 CDI the open hood warning on the IC would come up and Id open and close the hood and it would go away. This was intermittent.
Then, a week ago the hood warning light is permanent and the red hood warning chiming is constant. It drives me nuts.
I checked the wires and they seem ok. I cleaned the hood switch/sensor and put it back in and still a problem.
Then I ordered a new switch and put it back in and still a problem. When the car is parked or when it comes to a stop light or stop sign it stops. As soon as I get passed 3/4 mph the warning comes up again.
First of all, can anyone help me mute the warning chime.
And help me further troubleshoot the issue. I have a 200 miles trip back home this weekend and I am telling you anyone that can bear that noise for that long either has no brain or is deaf.
Thanks in advance for your help
DTCs from rear SAM, IC, OCP, UCP. And front SAM.
Note message: control module A1 ( instrument cluster) is not sending any data comes up in the front sam, rear sam, IC, and OCP.

The only code I was able to verify was 9033 in UCP. The other modules showed nothing.
I suggest you delete all codes and wait for the next event. If the Alarm Horn sounds, disconnect the wires. Then check the rear SAM for water entry and corrosion. Everything in the spare tire area must be removed.

Maj. Dundee, the alarm did go off one night and ever since then I dont lock the car.
I finally did figure out how to mute the chime. I took the IC out and yanked the speaker out.

Do yourself a favor and see if your Anti Theft is still working.
Roll down the drives window, close the door and lock it with the key fob. Then reach in and open the door with the inside handle. The anti theft horn shoud.

I figured it was the rear SAM. I took it out wnd cleaned it from minor corrosion and put it back in and the same issue. So I went ahead and ordered a new used SAM coded to my vehicle. All is working now except when I scan the rear sam I get the below message?

So you must contact the seller and tell him your problem.
