My 2011 ML350 4Matic will not clear the Change Key Batteries message when cranking the car. I have changed the battery in the main triangle key and both batteries in the spare circle key. I have pressed the reset button on dash too many times to count. I have even left the spare (circle) key in the house as to try and narrow down which key is reporting the problem. That didn;t help so I figured it was the main triangle key with the 1 battery. I've also locked and unlocked the doors with both keys. Please help.....tired of seeing the message.

How old is the main battery? Have you checked for water leaks at the rear taillamp housings? This vehicle is known for that, and strange electrical problems that won’t go away is one symptom.

Replaced Main battery 1 month ago. I have not checked for water leaks. Will do that.
Key fobs work great but replace key batteries message will not go away. It does say batteries so I figured it was the spare (circle panic button) key.

The reason why you cannot RESET is there is probably a code stored in the I.C., namely 913C (RESET Button Jamming). And the remedy is to replace the I.C.

Need scanner to read codes.

Thanx Major....will any OBD2 scanner work or is this some special "take it to the dealer" scanner and take the first born for payment?

No, any OBD2 scanner will not read codes in ALL modules. Here is one that will.

Upon further troubleshooting. When i crank the car...I get the Change Key Batteries message displayed. I can press Reset button and make that go away on the dash display. If I scroll through to messages the message is still present and will not go away. So, I believe that the reset button is working. I just cannot figure out how to clear the actual stored message and to keep it from displaying every time I start the car.

Do you have a scanner, not a code reader?

If you do, you must scan codes in all modules.
