Power Steering Fluid
Hello All!
This is my first post. I need help regarding Power Steering Fluid for a 2007 W164 ML 350, Engine 272. I'm flushing out my power steering fluid and was looking to buy replacement fluid but the parts are very confusing. Some stores say it uses CHF 11S and some say its Q146 0001. I Even called a few MB dealers and they also state both numbers plus Q146 0002.
Please advise on what is the correct fluid and if anyone has used any other PS Fluid that's Better than OEM like Liqui Moly, etc. Thank you!

See the list, how they are all ATF? That's Dexron 6 which you can get anyplace.
Suck it out, refill, drive, repeat several times. DO NOT mix Pentosin and ATF.

This place is a joke.
Your ML takes the gold colored fluid from MB, in a grey plastic bottle, sorry I don't have the part number handy. I just flushed my '08 by sucking the old fluid out of the resevoir, refilling, running the engine and turning the steering lock to lock 4 times, and repeated the process 3 times. You may want to consider replacing the resevoir if it's original, as there is a filter screen inside.

MB switching back and forth between Pentozin and ATF is a pain in the ***. I did my W209 with PSF, panicked because I thought it was a Pentozin system, then realized it was actually PSF, so it got flushed like 10 times!
Both work, but require a FULL flush to switch. Some references say Pentozin for cold temps and PSF normally, which sounds right to me. Many a Pentozin systems blew the f up on the track from runaway heating. PSF is the way to go, imo and you can take a middle ground with a LV ATF at 6cSt. Your mileage may vary....but be sure you know what you are starting with, My 2010 W164 manual clearly states ATF.

To even further the confusion, it says MB PSF or ATF. Umm, I though MB PSF (gold) was green Pentosin. (but I was...wrong)
Given this matrix of choices, I would say ATF is the way to go, just flush the crap put of it....literally.
