ML 320 CDI W164 2006 chaffed/shorting wire

Hi guys im trying to find what this wire feeds .The colour is brown with a black trace ,its located under the rear SAM and fuse box in the in the wheel well sitting in water. Water has been removed and foam padding dried with dehumidifier .I sorted the water ingress problem from the back lights. Before i repair the wire i would like to find what it supplies

The only wire with Brn/Blk tracer is at Connector "C" wire #33.

Hi Maj. Dundee thanks for that info , From the diagram i have that wire seems to connect directly with the EIS .
Should this be the case would that wire have the ability to stop the engine cranking and stop fuel pump run

That wire goes to the fuel level sensors in the fuel tank. The EIS is not controlled by the rear SAM.

Here is the curve ball take a look at the brown/black trace wire its clearly shown from EIS to rear SAM control module, unless im reading it wrong

Your opening post referred to a wire in the rear SAM, not the EIS. Here is a partial copy of the rear SAM diagram showing conn. C wire # 33.

Thanks Maj. Dundee thats where the wire was chaffed in the loom under the rear Sam .that wire is shown as going to the fuel gauge sender from the Sam which is what you said ,but also it is shown going to the EIS which is confusing me.

Then get a scanner that can read codes in all modules.

Maj. Dundee Whilst we all appreciate you valuable input to our questions. WHY IS YOUR DEFAULT ANSWER GET A SCANNER . Well the car has been scanned with no codes in any module using a star tester , a short was noted to fuel pump. NOW THE BLOODY SCANNER WONT FIX ACTUAL PROBLEMS IT IS LEFT TO THE HANDS OF THE GUY DOING THE JOB ( GOOD OLD FASHIONED LOOKING AND TESTING) All to often individuals rely on computer read outs .

Hi Maj. Dundee it is 9097 input of circuit 15 relay missing or short to ground or open circuit .Trouble is relay is good continuity between relay and rear Sam is good . do you know what the imput voltages should be

Hi Maj . The car is ML 320 CDI year 2006 VIN WDB1641222A113177
So far i have discovered that pin 86 of circuit 15 relay, in the rear fuse and relay holder is being ground
The feed wire for this pin is yellow/black. With all plugs removed from the fuse&relay holder and the rear Sam, when i perform a continuity test on the yellow/black pin in the plug and a ground point i have a circuit. Which agrees with the fault code 9097. i have removed seating and carpets attempting to follow the yellow/black forward towards the front hoping to find a break so far no luck . Do you know what this wire connects to please.
Also i checked the yellow/black wire from the rear SAM this is also being ground to earth.
