I did annual service and some repair on dealership for my 2011 MB ML350. I paid few thousand.
After that I found empty holes on engine splash shield front. I came to the dealership and ask about it. They took my car, do something about half hour and told me this is wholes must be for drain after rain.
I'm still not sure. Is this wholes not for the mounting bolts?
Can anyone confirm I'm wrong?

Just seeing the wear around the holes means something was in the hole, either a rivet like someone already mentioned or a bolt. It they were drain holes there wouldn't be that type of wear around the holes. That dealer is the idiot not you. Post his name so we can shame him.

This could have been an honest mistake from the technician, but the explanation/justification is something else. Makes me think that this dealer is collecting used expansion rivets. You could ask them to replace the rivets at no charge but be prepared to argue that the rivets were there before they did the work. If you think they have a sense of humour, tell them you want to plug the drain holes with expansion rivets, as intended in the original design of the car.
If you have the option, abandon that dealer and find another shop to service your car. Preferably one that does not collect expansion rivets or other parts from customer cars.
