Transmission oil eye opener
My ML350's 7G gearbox worked perfectly. So I thought.
But with cold start it was sometimes a little rough from 1 to 2. I thought that was just normal 'cold' behavior and all shifting became very smooth after 2 minutes of driving.
Still I decided to change the transmission oil and filter and it was a pleasant surprise that my 7G box became even more smooth than I thought possible and the rough 1 to 2 when cold completely disappeared.

Did you use a different trans fluid or filter? I changed mine and the cold wierd shift is still there. Only happens when overnight temps get below 35F. Mechanic checked the trans and all checked good.

check your front cv axles transfer case chain they could be making thump bang noises,im taking care of mine soon

My mechanic mades sure he used the exact same fluid.

Out of curiosity only, did you drain the torque converter as well or just the pan?

It was a regular oil change and I don't know if draining the converter is usually done at an oil change. Anyway I know the transmission works like new now.

If the bill says they used more than 7 litres of fluid, then they probably did. Less than that and it would be just the pan.
