Hi all, started the car and while the door was open I turned it off. Now I am getting the following messages...
"Door Open Vehicle Not In Park"
"Drive To Workshop Without Shifting Gears"
I have a new battery and new auxiliary battery (OEM).
Fault code P179D85 - The redundancy system for DIRECT SELECT was activated. There is a signal above the permissible limit value
The car starts fine but now I cannot shift it into gears, i.e., drive, reverse, or neutral.
This is by no means a tested solution but if clearing the codes hasn't worked, and your battery voltage is 12.6v or more (engine off) and 14 v or more engine on, then I'd try disconnecting both batteries (and ALL terminals - not just one) and leave it for 10 minutes. Reconnect, wait another 10 so all modules can power up properly, start it and see what happens.

Hi, thanks for the response. Gave it a try. Disconnected both positive and negative terminals for the auxiliary and main battery. Let it sit for 30 minutes, connected terminals. Let it sit for another 30 minutes. Opened door, same messages. Voltages are good. Any other suggestions?
this is transmission control module, nothing to do with door or battery, keep trying maybe it starts so u can get car to lift if not it is possible u can jack it and replace module on ground but more hastle.
china module is ok but may not always work. you will need computer to do adaptations once ISM is replaced
basically what happens car has electronic module that shifts ur transmission when it fails lever on steering wheal does nothing and car can not shift to drive or park or whatever, so now ur car things say u r in drive and u opend ur door so u geting that message (you can be actualy parked) based on code you posted varistor values are outside range so transmission module does not know where motor turned it to so it stops module form working (shifting) module can not re re learned so it may even be operable but once something does wrong its a brick (unless you have physical damage and it felt off transmissions ... which nearly impossible )
or whatever u find cheaper just be ready to have something to do programing and adaptation when u install it
Yeah, fortunately the car starts but unable to shift. Looks like it may be the ISM module as you suggested. Found a prior post that describes the same symptoms. Car makes the same sound when locking.

ISM can be replaced by jacking car, you need to remove 1 shield and probably damage original ISM but new one can be positioned in. also if u remove old u can put neuteral manually (under car) and push it somewhere if needed
once new ISM installed need to program it, i used Autel at that time as my start got stolen ( it wpked ok,,, i had to order part twice as 1st one off ebat had problems programming, 2nd one was ok
