Rear Left Door Status is OPEN all the time - help fixing
hey all trying to fix ML350 '06 W164 - rear left door status is open regardless if door is actually closed or open. (as result foot well lights is on and red message pops up on IC when driving)
I tested micro switch in lock mechanism it works ok, tested cable up to door connector and its ok (lock works properly by the way)
based on michroswitch seams that door status opne is when switch is is High so that means to me thta wire is short to ground some where or rear sam going crazy. there no codes on R-SAM

Does any one know what is X35/3 components is what xentry reffers too? also what position does door switch terminates on R-SAM connectors and what connector would that be?
my idea to disconnect connector and see what happens if i see same opens status then is R-SAM is problem goes away then its wire some where just need to trace it and need to figure out what wire on connector. on door its Red with Black Stripe
so maybe some one know what X35/3 is and what connector it goes to on R-SAM
I had similar problem and I’m sure it is your Rear Sam box that has got water damaged.
If you take out the Rear SAM box and open it carefully and inspect the circuit board you might see corrosion.
yea interestingly enough i was doing maintenance check up on rear sam in summer and it was pristine clean no signs of watter moisture or corrosion. but i even drilled vents on bottom to avoid as its known problem (i did nave and still have crazzy messages about rear turn signas broken thats why i looked at sam but did not find any reasons for problems)
ill try to take a look again who knows maybe some how watter got here
I saw somewhere that to move the rear SAM to the side pocket at the spare wheel to avoid getting it water damaged.
Tested where it leaks. My wife sprayed with pressure washer and I inspected inside, water got in at the back light, must be the seal for backlight.
I will move it to the side pocket when I get time.
yea tail lights is tricky and need to be sealed well my other MB had problems with tail light leaking on other car, had no electronics in area
well will re inspect my rsam when i can get to friends garage... i dont drive my ML any more so less time to look at it
i have the exact problem on my w251 r class and I've swapped the rear sam over with my x164 but still the same problem. I've noticed that the interior lights work perfect after the car has gone to sleep but soon as i switch on the ignition it reverts to staying on but only the lh rear door.
yep same here in deep deep sleep light turns on and when u drive door light is on and dash board shows red message that door is open... ML is not my drive car any more so im waiting to weather to warm up a bit to do maitance for it... but if in your case RSAM swap did not help maybe core of the issue some where bedore that... thought identical symproms does not allways mean identical problem. in my case i know up to door connector all works proper,, after that did not trace anything... when i get to work on car will post my findings
for now need to get roadster ready for season
Just an update and I don’t think it’s going to be helpful but as I previously mentioned if you let the truck go to sleep and don’t turn on the ignition then the lh rear door works perfectly it locks and unlocks and the truck recognizes that fact so I left the truck overnight without locking or having the ignition on and when I went to use the truck the next day it’s been perfect ever since. Don’t know if that helps you but give it a try you’ve got nothing to lose
