Has anyone else tried this? Is it something that I can do instead of getting the lighting package?

How did you get the "lighting package" on your ML? I thought they were backed up until 3/2012?

Definitely get the lighting package. This is only make- shift since I couldn't wait for the later production dates to get the lightin package that I REALLY wanted.
Plus I had a lot of trial and error and parts substitutions to find bulbs with a good oem color. Most kits out there have the junky blue look hence all the blue glaring cars you see all the time on the road.

I wanted to pay for the lighting package but mbusa didn't come through for me.
But not a bad option of necessary, now that I got good bulbs. I wouldn't have recommended last week when I had the crappy blue lights.

This is another pair of 4300 k bulbs, not the ones I had refered you to a month ago. Did you get the new ones in my latest thread ?

I found a good oem 4300k bulb finally!!!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-HID-Bulbs-...-/260735114683

I went through 4 pairs of bulbs and these are finally actually oem and not crappy blue bulbs

Was this a "plug and play" swap out?

Did you have to modify any housings or cut any of the plastic on the stock Headlight Housing?

Do the Auto-Hi Beams still work?

Thanks for the input. Given production may be delayed until June, I don't know if I will wait it out? Might opt for your mod.

Are you sure they won't just use yellow bulbs or LEDs with the clear, like my M3 does?

Us law states there has to be some orange visible somewhere in the front. Your M3 probably has the orange plate on the bumper which I prefer and can cover with vinyl or paint to color match instead of having something in the headlight whichever hard to cover.

Yes, not only something orange, but reflectorized orange. Solved on my M3 with removing the bumper cover reflectors and filling them in, like the Euro. As you say, much harder if incorporated in the h/l unit.

Thanks for the reply Jtorrebl, I'm a little slow here, I don't understand what you mean.

From what I read you had the Basic HID headlights and you swapped out the bulbs to Bi-Xenon HID's the one's you bought through eBay. I'd like to know if you had to cut the housing or were you able to just unplug the electrical source and the bulb and plug in the new ones.

Thanks! Happy new year.

High beams are separate from from the single regular beam. So that was left alone. Still have a halogen high beam.
Mods included taking apart the bracket that holds the stock bulb into the projector to hold the h7 his bulb and then. Notching out the rear sealed back cover of the housing to get the aftermarket hid wires out since the kit won't completely fit inside the tight space of the housing
