2012 MB ML350 BlueTEC - On/Off Road Package

This looks like a package to be had. However, I didn't see a release/availability date. Anyone know?

Seems like a great feature set, as long as it's not too cost prohibitive.

Nice. Thanks, guys. Don't think my wife will do it but I'm really tempted to hold off for the 2013 model now.

Hopefully MB will have the lighting package and supposed pano roof availability fixed by then.

My013 availability date?

When will the My013 model potentially be available for order/delivery in the Us or European Delivery for the USA?

A UK sporting magazine just reviewed it and said its off road capability was within 15% of the cherished Range Rover.

You can't do European Delivery on a vehicle that's not built in Europe...!

You should see MY13 MLs on lots in late August.

Sorry I didn't realize that the new off road package, like all the MLs, are built in the USA, since the rest of the world or at least the UK seems to have gotten it now. No firm order dates were given in the article but I assume the non North American introduction will help work out the bugs before it comes here. The author was also impressed by the interior fit and finish compared to previous generation models.

I recall David Davis photo of the underside of the original ML and the ensuing fallout.

Really, that early, meaning early August production? Make me think about passing on my current 6/5 build date and wait a couple months.

Wow; since I have a 6/5 production date, it would be a no-brainer to wait. PM me if you find out what other options may become availble for the next model year.

I'm still getting the run around on the build date for our ML. If we really do want the ML, we might be better off waiting for the 2013.

Having said that, I would love to get the off road package.

Does anyone know how much this package costs? The off-road package includes the airmatic suspension too, correct?

ON&OFFROAD Package

Checking the German site, the cost is €2,261 and is described, "The ON&OFFROAD-package (codes 430) consists of: Load program switch and animation in the COMAND display, manual mode for transmission automatic control mechanism, 100% differential locks at the means differential, front axle and rear axle with adapted 4ETS, Untersetzungsgetriebe, lower protection under motor, reinforced subsoil disguise (?) and a special Offroad algorithm for ABS, ETS, ESP and air resilience."

So, no, it does not include Airmatic, though it may in the US. Airmatic is an additional €2,023. It does have a diff locks, though, which is good. I would guess US price would be in the $2k range without Airmatic.

Actually, reading through the German options and their prices will make you feel really good about even paying list price in the US. We get way more for way less.

Thanks, Greg.

So, if we want the adjustable suspension that will be an additional cost to the off road package? That's disappointing. I thought the point of the off road package was to make the ML on par with the RRS and such.

For the US, we don't know how the options will be packaged yet. MBUSA could choose to lump the two together, though the ON&OFFROAD package is still usable with out Airmatic. The Dynamic Handling Package also gives you disconnecting swaybars, which would be the best combo with offroad package. They could also choose to make this a prerequisite for the package.

Ahhh....got it. But man, that would be an expensive option choice if the Handling package is a pre-requisite (~$5k) and then another $x for the off road package.

Correct, you pay to play.
So, in Germany you pay:
O&ORoad - €2,260 = $2,890
Airmatic - €2,023 = $2,585
DH - €3,689 - $4,715
Total = $10,190

In addition, the base BlueEFFICIENCY model is $72,480, and that doesn't even include the sunroof at $1,765 and probably some other things.

These probably include VAT, but I'm not positive of that. In comparison, we pay $5,150 for Airmatic, Dynamic Handling and 20" wheels; in Germany that's $9,200! Consider yourself lucky.

That's a lot of dough for a ML. I guess at that price point, I would consider a RRS - If I was that serious to go off-roading.

I'd definitely pay ~$5k for the off-road/airmatic suspension though.
